Not Your Average Globetrotter
The Not Your Average Globetrotter project is an expat podcast for people who want to become an expat or are already expats who are interested in living abroad, moving abroad, “expat life”, and especially for those interested in living in Italy. Because moving abroad (including moving to Italy & moving to Portugal) can be quite the undertaking, ‘NYAG’ was created to share information and experiences in hopes of helping people to avoid a potentially difficult transition into life abroad as an expatriate regardless of where they move.

I've been living in Portugal for just over a month so far and have been enjoying living in Braga. There are many differences I've come to see when comparing life in Portugal to living in Italy; everything from the people and culture to the food and even opening a bank account in Portugal and renting an apartment in Portugal. Even though moving to Portugal was something I hadn't planned to do, I'm...

Goodbye Italy I'll miss you 03.12.2021 19:58
I truly never thought I would ever have to make a episode like this. I’ll admit, while editing the montage section of this episode, it was quite surreal to look back on my time after moving to Italy. Living in Italy is something I always dreamed I would do, making a life in Italy for myself is a goal I can say with great joy that I’ve accomplished. Nearly 5 years ago I got Italian citizenship by d...

Life abroad has lead me on a journey I never could have imagined. After 12 years of living abroad, I've found there are fewer and fewer things that I miss from my "old life". But then there are some aspects that I still think about or even miss. Even though moving abroad or even specifically moving to Italy can present many wonderful new things in your life, not every aspect of living in Ita...

Leaving America for good is a consideration more Americans think about each year. While moving to another country may be more possible than most people think, there are still many details to take into account when moving abroad. Before you can even consider planning out your expat life, it is necessary to lay down some foundational work. Since having left America over 12 years ago, I've been bless...

Living in Italy has been something that I've seen as a blessing to have been able to do. During my time making my life in Italy, I couldn't help but make some obervations about the differences between living in The USA vs living in Italy. I'm in no way saying one is better than the other, I just simply enjoy seeing what the differences are and to learn from the strengths of both ways of life. Whil...

Responding to Sonia Candy's Response To "What I Hate About Italy... well... sort of" 10.09.2021 37:52
Living in Italy can present many challenges... but none of the topics in this video could even remotely be considered among them. Yesterday I was quite surprised to find that one of my videos had received a video response, from someone who I'd never had any contact with before. It just so happens the episode in question has been one of the most misunderstood episodes I've ever made "What I Hate Ab...
Living Abroad is Overrated 03.09.2021 15:41
Yes, I've said it, living abroad is completely overrated! I will never understand the glamorization of living life abroad and expat life as well as the digital nomad lifestyle. Yes, the individuals may be embracing new places and cultures, but how it's seen as glamorous is baffling to me. I realize it may not be an easy decision to make, and for many moving abroad can seem difficult to make happen...

Expat VS Digital Nomad; a discussion I often find myself a part of with other expats as well as future expats wanting to move abroad or even specifically to move to Italy, move to Portugal, move to Japan or wherever their hearts are called to. When researching information online, unfortunately, a lot of the information and terminology for expats living abroad and digital nomads seem to get confuse...

The Italian Green Pass - Update 2 06.08.2021 17:32

I can say I'm quite proud that I have been able to accomplish the original goal that I set out to do which was to make a di...
