On 23 September, Northside stood with over 5,000 churches around the world to see the reality of modern day slavery, understand God’s heart for justice and join the global movement to end slavery. We were deeply moved by a fresh look at the story of Joseph in the Bible, his experience of slavery and God’s heart and commitment to do something about it.

It’s at the heart of what we do. We don’t do church. We are making disciples who make disciples. In other words, we just want to equip healthy followers of Jesus.

We want to be the sort of church that if we left our community, those around us would miss us. You only have to look at this clever story from Jesus, to understand some simple and practical steps to meet the needs of those around you.

As we dive into God’s word we'll uncover the driving force behind our church's past, present and future directions.

On our first Sunday as one church in two locations we kicked off this new series, We Are, looking at who we want to be as a church. First up, we don’t have all the answers, but we’ll point you to the one who does.

Uber. Airbnb. Spotify. You don’t have to look far to find examples of industry disrupters in our society. You don’t have to read far in the Bible to see that God is also a disrupter. The question is: are we disruptible?

The God of Christianity is one who is dependable because his nature is constant. Does that mean he rejects change? On the contrary: he not only embraces it but instigates it! What might it look like for us to be a people who are willing to step into change with him, while being stabilised by his unchanging character?

Imagine a group of friends try to start a business. Instead of playing to their strengths they compare themselves to each other. Effective? Not so much. What if each member of our church community played the unique part God has given them, so that together we create a symphony so beautiful it resounds throughout our city?

Every minute you spend comparing yourself to someone else is a minute you waste fulfilling your God-given potential. Could it be that God has entrusted more to you than you realise, and that what you have is less important than what you do with what you have?

We all look to something or someone to find out who we are and whether we are enough. What or who is your mirror, and how is it shaping your life and contribution to the world?

"If you want to matter, you have to be better." Sound familiar? It's easy to find ourselves exhausted from judging our value on whether we are "higher" or "lower" than others on the various ladders we climb. What if we could be free of the comparison trap?

Many of us want to have lives of impact, but so often find ourselves held back despite having the best intentions. How can we step forward to put our intentions into action and make a lasting difference in the world around us?

Our words have an enormous impact on our lives and those around us, hugely powerful in shaping the "sound" of our lives. What do you want people to hear when they listen to your life? What do you want to be known for? Will your sound be one that points people to God?
