In our culture, we're often made to think that it's okay to be passionate about anything except for our faith. John shows us why this cannot be! He challenges us to consider the passion in our own lives for the gospel and for the church.

John poses the question of whether or not God still performs miracles and asserts that the church, as the feet and hands of Christ, is God's miracle.

John emphasizes patience, a fruit of the spirit (Gal 5:22), and focuses on Jesus as our prime example. (Hebrews 12: 1-3)

After encouraging us to stand firm in God's Word last week, John challenges us do justly, be merciful, and walk humbly with God.

Despite trends in our country of decreased faith in God, John encourages us to stand firm in God's Word by citing how Paul encouraged the church in Thessalonica in his second letter to them.

Jenn discusses some attributes of our Heavenly Father. God is our source of life; he corrects, provides, gives wisdom, and forgives. What a great example our Father sets for us!

John talks about issues we have in our nation and in the church dealing with mental illness and encourages everyone to not let emotions dictate what truth is.

Despite what job or career path we choose in life, John reminds us to follow Solomon's wisdom in Ecclesiastes. 13 Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. 14 For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil. -Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 NIV

Thinking of Memorial Day, John emphasizes Jesus' command in John 15:12-14. Having died for us, Jesus is the perfect example of the love and service we should be showing to others.

Russ likens our nation's current state to Israel's during the time of the prophet, Jeremiah. A pivot back towards God is just the solution we need!

John highlights the story of Samuel's mother, Hannah, from 1 Samuel chapter 1. Hannah had faith in and worshiped God through her troubles and God blessed her for it.

John challenges us to SERVE in the name of JESUS. As in 2 Timothy 4:2, we should be ready no matter what season or whether or not it is easy or convenient. What can you do to serve in the name of Jesus TODAY?

John talks about Jesus calling his twelve disciples and their characteristics.

After discussing trials and temptations last week, John proceeds to preparing ourselves for these temptations in this week's message. We ought to be ready with the full armor of God described in Ephesians 6 so that we can stand firm until the end!

John talks about the differences between trials and temptations. Not every hardship we face is a trial to test our faith. Sometimes we sin and have to face the consequences of that sin. Thankfully, we are covered by God's grace and He will not let us be tempted beyond what we can bear. (1 Corinthians 10:13)

John focuses on our response to trials and encourages us to persevere in order to become complete and mature Christians. (James 1:2-4 and 1 Peter 5:6-11)

On Easter Sunday, John talks about the historical FACT that Jesus rose from the dead and goes on to pose an important question to the congregation.

On Palm Sunday, John talks about Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem. The crowds misunderstood his mission, but as Christians, we look forward to Jesus returning as our King.

John tells the story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead found in John chapter 11. This story reminds us that Jesus has power over death and that no resurrection or eternal life can exist for us outside of Jesus.

As the Easter holiday approaches, John encourages us to prepare our own minds and hearts for Easter just as Christ prepared his disciples for his crucifixion and resurrection.

John contends that true joy comes from our heavenly Father and the love he has for us.

John reminds us to not let fear guide our actions. As Christians, we should understand who we are in Christ so that we can go into the world with confidence.

In the midst of tragedy, John proposes that asking how God could let this happen is the wrong approach. Instead, the church should be asking how we can be the hands and feet of Christ!

John continues his series about spiritual disciplines by talking about tithing today. He discusses the purposes of tithing and reiterates that the attitude matters as much as the act.

John encourages us to take time to pray, giving three reasons we should be praying to God.
