Comedy EN ↓ 303 episodes

Norm Nathan’s Vault of Silliness will air the personal collection of the Norm Nathan Show for which I produced on WBZ-AM from 1989 until his sudden passing on October 29th, 1996.Norm spent 50+ years in Boston Broadcasting working at WCOP, WESX, WMEX, WHDH, WEEI, WRKO, WMRE and WBZ. Whether news, talk or music…he did it, sometimes combining them all. Many of the recordings you will hear were sent to me by a fan and friend, Joan McCool. Others are from my personal collection. They will air as recorded, with the warmth an old, analog tape recording provides. Some with good, ol’fashioned home edit...

This episode of Norm Nathan’s Vault of Silliness is jam packed with a variety of subjects, calls, stories and quick clips. Norm Nathan’s Vault of Silliness presents a Dumb Birthday Game from August 10 th , 1992. I will title this: A Gem of Foolish Hilarity EVERY time I listen to this, I laugh just as hard. Norm Nathan's Vault of Silliness w/Tony Nesbitt - Ep 49 - The Eyes Have It 06.08.2021

The Vault of Silliness is open. As I stroll around inside, this tape caught my eye. A Dumb Birthday game from August 3 rd , 1991. I have titled this one: The Eyes (that's e-y-e-s), The Eyes Have It. It begins with the theme music I would play before we had a ‘real’ song. There weren’t many well-known people born on this day, so we dive into the rest of the week to fill out the game. The cast of ch...

Norm Nathan's Vault of Silliness w/Tony Nesbitt - Ep 47 - Talk & Callers 23.07.2021

The Vault of Silliness has produced a tape labeled July 20 th and 21 st , 1996, though it was ‘Friday night,’ Norm was on at midnight so it’s Saturday morning the 21 st .  Now that I’ve bored you with that info let’s move on. I’ll call this episode, “Talk and Callers.” I found this a great example of a ‘regular’ Norm Show. No Dumb Birthday Game. Just talk and callers. Tom Howie is producing. We be...

Norm Nathan’s Vault of Silliness: Where the comedy never stops has quite the show in store for you today. July 5 th , 1994 is the date that gives us, what I will call, “50 Minutes of Madness.” It’s a Puntastic Dumb Birthday Game that includes plenty of attempts at humor that initially fall flat on their face YET rise like a deranged phoenix from the comedy ashes to be as ridiculous as you could im...

Norm Nathan's Vault of Silliness w/Tony Nesbitt - Ep 42 - Toilet Dedication! Bud E. Love! 18.06.2021

For Episode 42, Norm Nathan’s Vault of Silliness brings you a mish-mash of cuts. Many featuring Jack Harte’s traffic reports. They are entertaining, but it’s his commercial reads that provide the highlights. The date on the tape is June 17 th , 1995. But there are definitely different dates sprinkled throughout. As I said waaaaaay back in Episode 1 and what is listed here in the show’s description...

Norm Nathan's Vault of Silliness - Ep 41 11.06.2021

30 years-ago to the day!   Please pardon the stuffy nose. Over a year and a half without a sniffle. Throughout the whole CoCoRona and all. And wham! Norm Nathan's Vault of Silliness - Ep 37 - Karen Meslener's 1st Time 21.05.2021

Thanks for returning to Norm Nathan’s Vault of Silliness as we deposit another audio gem into your ears. May 23 rd , 1992 is the date for this comedy dollar. This show is significant for two reasons, one historic and one not so much. Historic: Johnny Carson signed off the Tonight Show for the last time earlier that night! Not so much: It is a DBG that showcased the absolute worst jokes, puns and r...

Norm Nathan's Vault of Silliness w/Tony Nesbitt - Ep 35 - Ordinary Guys 07.05.2021

The exciting Emilio Marotta is producing this show from May 7 th , 1994. Exactly 27 years ago to the day. Is this a sign that I’ve managed to organize the Vault not only by year but by month AND date? That would be correct! From here on out, I will produce episodes as close to the date of the original show. Most will be from the same week. Occasionally, like today’s podcast, hit the bullseye and m...

Norm Nathan's Vault of Silliness w/Tony Nesbitt - Ep 34 - The 1st Egg of Spring! Peepers! 30.04.2021

With Spring 2021 now a little over a month old it is time to celebrate it with not only the sound of peepers (I will explain that in a few minutes) but with a broadcast from February 19 th , 1994. I know that date may not bring on thoughts of spring but it’s a special episode and I was just so darn thrilled to find it in the Vault. Due to some thawing weather we were to experience that weekend 27...

Norm Nathan's Vault of Silliness w/Tony Nesbitt - Ep 33 - STEVE ALLEN 23.04.2021

I hope this is one of those episodes you’ve all been waiting for… The great STEVE ALLEN joined us on April 11 th , 1993 for a fascinating interview. Now he was supposed to be on at 11pm but no one answered. I kept trying throughout the hour and finally connected. His wife, Jane Meadows, answered the phone! Somehow our scheduled interview didn’t make it into his book, but he was happy to stay and t...

Norm Nathan's Vault of Silliness w/Tony Nesbitt - Ep 29 27.03.2021

The organization of the cassette stacks here in Norm Nathan’s Vault of Silliness is forever on-going. About 93.6 % are filed by year. Now I have to line them up by date/month. That way I can upload new content that’s as close to their original date as possible, which I think will be kinda fun.  Until that happens, it will be the usual hodge-podge of dates with some, like Epsiode 28 and this one, #...
