Even when we are under-resourced, outmanned, and facing insurmountable odds and overwhelming circumstances, it’s still possible to be an overcomer. No matter what you’re facing, God’s strength can give you exactly what you need. Although the canon of Scripture is closed, the stories of overcomers are still being written today. We can do more than survive. We can thrive, even when it snows in June.

Rise up, O men of God! The words of this song call men to action. It calls men to die to passivity and half-heartedness. It calls men, and all people, to be strong and courageous. It calls all to be ready for the battle. Life is a war, and only the strong survive. Get ready for battle. Be properly armed and prepared so that victory is assured.

Twice in the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus quotes Hosea 6:6. “I desire mercy, not sacrifice.” Jesus even commands the Pharisees to go and learn what this means. Mercy is a major theme of the Bible, but what exactly is it? What does it look like?
