Will raising dog fouling fines address the problem? 06.07.2026

The Government has announced that it would be increasing fines for littering and dog fouling by €100 from €150 to €250. Alongside a €250,000 fund for local authorities to clean up towns and cities. Dublin City Councillor and former Lord Mayor of Dublin Hazel Chu has been critical of the plans. Hazel explained why to Anton.

Calls are being made to examine the feasibility of rolling out a coherent school bus system across Dublin  The call by is being made by Fine Gael TD for Dublin Rathdown, Maeve O’Connell.

Concerns about upholding language laws and planning 03.07.2026

Worries are being raised about the protection of the Irish Language laws within the Gaeltacht region in Kerry. Numbers show that there have been no investigations of breaches to Irish Language law’s requirements by Kerry County councils since it was passed 12 years ago.   Dingle-based Sinn Fein, Councillor Robert Brosnan is calling for the laws to be more heavily enforced by the council.

No verdict as Noah Donohoe inquest adjourned 03.07.2026

The jury at the inquest into the death of Noah Donohoe has been unable to reach a unanimous verdict. Belfast Coroner's Court has adjourned the inquest to a future date.  We got the latest on this with Liam Tunney a journalist with the Belfast Telegraph .

Henry McKean is wedding watching in NYC 03.07.2026

The wedding of the century is going ahead. Taylor Swift will today marry Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden, with 1,000 invited celebrity guests. Privacy around this wedding has made it hard to report on. Henry McKean left his Fitzpatrick Hotel in Manhattan in 40 degree heat and he sent us this report from outside Madison Square Garden.

Trolley numbers reach highest point since the pandemic 02.07.2026

More people were on trolleys waiting for a hospital bed last month than any June since 2022 during the pandemic.  That’s according to new figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation. Their General Secretary Phil Ní Sheaghdha discussed this further with Jonathan.
