You'd never try to build a house without plans. You'd never tell your boss that you didn't have any goals for your work. Doing hard things well takes practice, training, and goals. So why do we think following Jesus is any different?

Creation reveals God’s goodness. We meet Him in the breeze blowing, in the water we drink, in holding hands, in playing with our kids, in building things, in sleeping… When we lose this. If we do not believe that God is good or do not see Him in our daily lives, it’s rather easy to “abandon the faith.” 1 Timothy 4:1-5

In 1 Timothy 2, the Apostle Paul lays out guidelines for how men & women should behave in church. In this message, we look at how to study these text & what they might mean for men & women today.

When we want to give, the Apostle Paul reminds us of God’s grace. His superabundant grace. He reminds of the beauty & power & greatness of the Gospel. He reminds us that Jesus came for sinners, like us. And then – in response to what Jesus has done for us – he urges us to get back into the fight, to fight the good fight.

How we respond to God-given opportunities determines what God does in & through us. Safe & predictable faith gets safe & predictable results. In this message from 2 Kings 13, Paul talks about three God-given opportunities that God has placed in our hands.

Life's messy. There's nothing clean and neat about real life, especially where people are involved. But in the midst of the craziness, there is a God who can satisfy our souls.

We don't have to trick God into showing us mercy. It doesn’t matter how many mistakes you've made, or if you feel like a disappointment or a failure, or if you’re struggling just to believe God's even there. Right now he’s waiting and longing to show us mercy. We just have to turn around.

It's easier to ignore evil than to stand against it. It's easier to get angry than to act. It's easier to hate than to love. It's easier to go with the flow than to swim against the current. But God doesn't ask us to take the easy path.

The Easter story isn't just a influential story. It's not just a true story. It is also unavoidably (almost awkwardly) personal. In John 20, we see & hear & experience this story told in the most personal of terms, from the perspective of a fisherman & a woman with a very dark past.

What do you expect from God? Happiness, success, health? Those times when God doesn't live up to our expectations reveal what we truly believe about Him.
