Psalm 40:1-5, 11-13

"Jesus was resurrected from the dead. The women went to the tomb early on the first day of the week. They were met by a young man dressed in a white robe. He said, ""Don't be alarmed... He has risen! He is not here"" This resurrection news was mind-blowing and cause the women to tremble because they were afraid."

Jesus entered into Jerusalem. The next day he went to the temple and encountered a fig tree on the way. The fig tree had no fruit. He then went to the temple courts and saw that those present had no "fruit." These honest encounters with Jesus revealed the state of God's people in terms of yielding fruit in their lives.

Jairs' daughter and bleeding woman. Both could have given up hope and determined that nothing could change. These encounters with Jesus interrupted that thinking and led to a different outcome.

"The kingdom of God collides with the kingdoms of this world and our personal kingdom. God sent Jesus to break in and tie up his enemy in order to set his people free. Those who embrace him are included in his circle of trust as his family."

We were once darkness but now we are light in the Lord. God calls us to live as children of light and reflect his light into our dark world. We can separate ourselves from darkness and embrace the light of Christ as we live out our faith. We can play a significant role in God sending his light into darkness through how we live. God came to be with us in Christ. He “moved into the neighborhood” and revealed who God is. Jesus Christ is both truly God and truly human. This is another great mystery of the Christian faith. Jesus, who was sent from the Father, has now ascended to the Father in his resurrected body and sits at His right hand, interceding for us based on his finished, atoning work.

Cain became angry at his brother and murdered him. This was the first of countless messy family situations in the Bible. God has dealt with messy families since and he has grace for us in the midst of our relational challenges. Families provide a unique set of challenges but they also provide a unique set of opportunities for our growth.
