New Hope Church: Weekend Messages

What is love? Can it be defined, understood, or more importantly - lived out? This weekend we begin reading in God's Word how, "Love Changes Everything!"

Six out of every 10 Americans believe the Bible is the Word of God and true, but only two out of every 10 say they regularly read it. So which is it? Is it incredibly important for our everyday lives or isn’t it? What would it look like in our lives, our families, our churches if the Bible became as important to us as many of us profess it to be?

The events occurring in our world today have greatly increased the level of fear and anxiety we feel personally. This has caused an increased need (even addiction) for safety and security. Where does the Bible stand on safety? Does God promise us safety? Or does He call us to significance? Find out this week what “God our refuge” means in today’s culture.

I’ve heard it said, “The church would be great, if it weren’t for all the people.” I don’t think it has to be this way! The feel and the “fit” of the church depends a lot on the leadership. This week we focus on a hero of the Bible who demonstrated the kind of servant leadership it takes to build a church where folks want to belong.

What makes “comfy pants”, “comfy jeans” or our “comfy chair” so comfortable? They fit just right. Just the way we like them! What if our comfort in God’s family is not based on getting things the way we like them but rather growing comfortable with the way God wants things?

The sense of Belonging to something greater than ourselves is one of the strongest needs we humans have. We begin our series called "A Place to Belong" by looking at where that place is and what we find when we get there.

Is your life overwhelming right now? Are the “giants” in your path preventing you from moving forward with the Lord? This week we study how God began the process of turning an overwhelmed servant into an overcoming leader!

What if you could live your life without regrets? It is possible. Many of the regrets we carry around with us are caused by our actions or even our inaction. The apostle Paul went through a very difficult time in his life due to regret. How God brought him and the Corinthian church he was writing to, will help us know how to live our lives free of regret.

What if being a Christian was never intended to be "socially acceptable?" What if Jesus never meant for us to settle into our new faith slowly and comfortably? What if becoming a Christian was meant to be a radical transformation that causes each believer to swim against the cultural stream? What would that look like?

What if life doesn’t get back to normal? What if God doesn’t heal my cancer? What if I never find a spouse? What happens if God doesn’t “fix” the things we ask Him to fix? Jesus answers these questions in His final words to His disciples before His crucifixion.

What if each one of us brought one person to Christ this year? What if each one of us would share the hope of Christ that we have found with at least one person in 2021? What would that change in our lives, in our church and most importantly in the life and eternity of that one person? Who is your "one" and how do you begin?

What if we don’t have to be a spiritual giant to be used by the Lord? What if we don’t have to have all of the answers before we start sharing our faith? What if we can take that next step of faith before knowing where God is going to lead us? What if a mustard seed of faith is enough?
