Necromancer

Part 1 of 2. The necromancers wind up way down yonder on the Chattahoochee exploring this week’s theme: country! Bret and Shira might be a little bit more rock n’ roll but they still know how to walk the line. First up is Shira’s pick, Sweet Home Alabama. Will Bret find Josh Lucas’ tractor sexy […]

Who’s afraid of Jane Austen? Not Bret and certainly not Shira’s ghoulfriend Dr. Heather King. Heather helps the necromancers get to the bottom of Jane’s addiction to comedies of manners and the romance community’s addiction to her. Heather’s pick, Northanger Abbey, also proves that Miss Austen knows a thing or two about remixing genres in […]

Bret and Shira are back! In honor of a listener’s donation to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the necromancers let them pick the theme: anime about 1960’s Japan. If there’s one takeaway from Japan’s “golden 60s,” it’s that girls with pigtails run the world full stop. Between Umi in From Up on Poppy Hill and […]

Ghoulfriend Jessica Jastrzebski stops by Necromancer to cover her favorite movie Aliens. Bret’s love of scifi is well established at this point and Shira is ready to invite Jessica back anytime she wants to talk about badass female heroes. There’s something for everyone in this episode. But it wouldn’t be Necromancer without some rom com […]

Part 2 of 2. The necromancers exorcise any remaining spirits as they finish up the theme of possession. Up next is Shira’s pick, All of Me. Steve Martin may not want any part of the ghost of Lily Tomlin but will Bret say no to all of her? Listen to find out and then stick […]

Part 1 of 2. The necromancers get inside movies about possession. Bret’s movie Fallen is first. Will the duo have the strength to keep the demons away from Denzel Washington or will Shira have sympathy for the devil? Listen to find out and as always, stick around for the romance remixes.

Part 2 of 2. The necromancers wrap up dystopian movies before they turn apocalyptic. Up next is Shira’s pick, The Lobster. If you had to spend the rest of your life as an animal, what would you choose? Listen to find out Bret and Shira’s choices and then stick around to find out how they […]

Part 1 of 2. The necromancers enter the brave new world of dystopian movies. Will they make it out alive or be drowned in the post-climate change floods? First up is Bret’s pick, Split Second. Rutger Hauer’s awesomeness isn’t up for debate but Shira needs to know what the hell is up with those wall […]

Part 2 of 2. Jon Mikl Thor lives to rock and Bret lives for Thor in his pick, Rock n’ Roll Nightmare. But can the bodybuilding-producer-writer-director-actor-rocker impress famously snobby Shira? Listen to find out and then stick around for the necromancer’s remixed monster love ballads

Part 1 of 2. Bret and Shira don’t need a microphone check to sing the praises of the next theme. It’s rock n’ roll, baby! If that strikes a cord, tune in for Shira’s pick, Josie and the Pussycats. Come for the true meaning of Dujour and stay for the after-show, where the necromancers will […]

Part 2 of 2. The necromancers wrap up the theme of unlikely team ups with Shira’s pick, That Old Feeling. Will this tale of enemy ex-spouses to lovers warm Bret’s heart or will it be the end of a beautiful partnership? Come for Bette Midler and Dennis Farina and then stay for the horror remixes.

Part 1 of 2. The necromancers are on a co-op mission to discover what’s so fun about this week’s theme: unlikely team ups. Bret and Shira know a thing or two about this topic, being the only podcast that caters to horror AND romance fans alike. First up is Bret’s pick, Ghost of Mars. Will […]

Part 2 of 2. The necromancers wrap up their celebration of Megan Fox with her turn as the “other girl” in Friends with Kids. Bret and Shira may not have kids themselves. But for Fox sake, they sure know how to be nicer to their friends than the people in this movie. Leave it to […]

Part 1 of 2. It’s another actress themed episode and it’s about damn time! Bret and Shira dive deep into the mystique of the one, the only Megan Fox. First up is Bret’s pick, Jennifer’s Body. Is hell really a teenage girl or are men just assholes? Listen to find out and then stay for […]

Part 2 of 2. The necromancers finish the job on movies with villain protagonists with Shira’s pick, My Best Friend’s Wedding. Now there are only so many contrived conflicts a guy can take before he cracks. Can PJ Hogan’s rom com classic soften Bret’s black heart or will it be the last straw before the […]

Part 1 of 2. Shira wants to hear the villain’s side of the story on this week’s episode and Bret better go along with it… or else! Villains as heroes is the theme and Bret is up first with Faults. Will Shira find the bad guy or girl sufficiently diabolical or will Bret have to […]

Part 2 of 2. Bret and Shira have announced the last call on movies with alcoholics so down your drinks and pay your tab. Bret’s pick, Habit, is up next. Is it the alcohol talking or does Larry Fessenden’s girlfriend just want him for his blood? Listen to find out and then stick around the […]
