My Morning Thought

Are you the person that has to drive everywhere because you need to be in control? Do you exert that same control when it comes to trusting God? Do you have to sit in the front seat? Drivers seat? Can you sit in the back seat? Where are you sitting? Why are you sitting there? If you are riding in the back seat, is it because you trust the driver or because you are afraid of the consequences?

What if the things I needed to do were the very things I wanted to do. You know how you do what you want, reworking your entire schedule to do them. But the things that you need to do, you often find excuses as to why you can't work them into your schedule. I don't know what that looks like in your life, but one of my struggles could be exercise. What if... Just what if those things were the same...

Wisdom is more than the knowledge of something. It is having the knowledge of something as well as the experience of that same or similar something. Wisdom is when both the knowledge and experience are tapped into so that you can make a good decision. Are you making wise decisions? Are you using both knowledge and experience as you think through things before rendering a decision. 

I am convinced, if I see myself differently from how God sees, I need to stop and ask God to allow me to see what He sees. I want to be what He wants me to be, not what I want. His way is always better than mine.

God has called us to make disciples. He's called us to a new life. How are you doing with that? If He called you home today, would you be ready? Would He find you doing what He called you today? Would you need to ask for additional time. Today, I had a lot of things running through my head, but I was able to land on comparison vs consideration. When we compare, we rob ourselves of our joy, but when we consider, we open the door for hope. Choose hope always.

We will make mistakes. We will fall down, but falling down does not have to be a failure. We can actually allow falling down to be an opportunity to make God famous, when we get back up. We should live our lives so that our "falls" can become our testimony. Instead of being a Letter of Shame, they should be our Badge of Honor.  In what ways have you fallen? What you believe is dictated by what you are told and is also displayed in how you live. So, who is speaking into your life? Who's helping you create the narrative of your life? What would those who see your life say about it? Would their idea of how you are living be the same as what you would say about your life?

The package might be new, but what's inside is still the same. Lies, sex, murder, corruption, evil, etc. has not changed. But God has given us what we need to say "no" to the worldly passions. Are you willing to use the tools you've been given? Are you ready to take back what the world is trying to take from you?

Knowing your value and worth changes the way you live. Do you know how much you are worth? For God so loved... He didn't have to do it that way, but it helps us to comprehend. Although we can't fully, it gives us a starting point.

Jesus met a Samaritan woman at the well. He engaged in conversation with her. He saw her for who she really was. Not how she saw herself, but how He saw her. He told her who she was; He told her the truth, but also made sure she knew she was seen and loved by Him. It changed her life. Where are the places where you are known and still loved? Do you feel freedom in those spaces? Jesus sees you and...

What is your story? What do people hear when they hear your story? Does your life, at a glance, tell your story? We all have a story to tell and that story has the ability to emotionally draw people, but only our Jesus story has saving power. That is telling the world who Jesus is and then sharing what He has done in our lives. Share your Jesus story.

Well, we can look at events in our lives and in the lives of others as just random events. We can totally disconnect our events from the events of others, but when we connect the dots, we can see how our events can actually parallel the events of others and that can cause...

With whom do you spend most of your time? Do you spend your time with people who are just like you? Those who already know Christ? Are you finding yourself complaining about how sick the world has gotten? Perhaps we need to be spending our time with those who don't know Christ. With the sick?

Do you ever have thoughts that are untrue? Unfounded? Maybe not well-intended? Would you have the same thoughts if you imagined yourself having those very thoughts in the presence of Jesus? Well, guess what, you do have them in the very presence of Jesus. He knows your thoughts. Does that change anything?

There is a difference between wanting something and really expecting to receive it. There is also a difference between waiting "hopefully" and waiting "expectantly." Do you present your requests to God and wait expectantly?

What does it feel like when you are thirsty. When nothing but water will do. You may drink a soda or tea, but the thirst never goes away. That's what it should feel like to thirst for Christ.

Is your ask different if you know someone has the ability to do what you are asking verses if you are unsure they can?  What if you believed God could do all things but you were still willing to trust Him to do what He knows is best? Today, bring your prayers to God knowing He can and trusting His will.

There are promises in God's word. One of those promises is He'll never forsake you. Psalm 9:10 tells us our role and God's promise. Do you believe?

If Jesus is not your first thought, you need to go back to sleep and start again. Do you seek God first? Do you believe God has all you need? No, I mean really believe it. Not just know it in your head or be able to recite it. I mean do you really know it and therefore live it. Matthew 6:33 has the answer for all we need.

Having an emergency room visit with a blood pressure of 192/127 was my wakeup call. God had spared me and I was going to take advantage of it; I was going to do things differently. If Christ isn't my first waking thought, I'm going back to bed. Thanks for joining me for My Morning Thought.
