He and his disciples crossed the Sea of Galilee, braved a storm, and landed in a place they were not wanted just so one demon- possessed, Gentile man who had been discarded by his own people could be saved! The parables teach us that Satan will do anything he can to disrupt the spreading of the Gospel message. He will plant false replicas and replace the Truth with lies! (This is so true in our culture today!) But it is not our job to pull out the weeds. It is our job to continue planting seeds by sharing the Truth about Jesus.   How are you doing? The point Jesus was making was that no matter how good we are, we will always fall short of God’s requirements for holiness. Jesus is the only one who ever obeyed the Law perfectly. God wants to bless us! So, Jesus listed eight heart attitudes that will bring us great blessings.  They are found in Matthew 5:1-12. Spend some time today reading or listening to these verses. Although most religious activities have great value, when they turn into routines or rituals, they get in the way of our relationship with God. Don’t allow religious rituals get in the way of your relationship with God. It would be foolish to settle for a mediocre relationship with such an amazing God! Jesus didn’t just heal the paralyzed man to make him well. Jesus wanted to make him whole! He wanted him to turn away from his sins and begin an eternal relationship with God. When we help other people, our ultimate goal should be to explain how they can have eternal life. Anything else we offer is only a temporary fix. Jesus’ miracles not only validated his claims to be the Messiah – the Son of God. They demonstrated God’s compassion for sick and hurting people. Where are you in your relationship with Jesus? -  Are you curious about who he really is and what he wants from you? -  Are you convinced that he really is the Son of God as he claimed over and over through his messages and his miracles? -   Are you committed enough to leave everything behind and follow him? Jesus changed his travel itinerary so that he could introduce himself to a Samaritan woman who was living an immoral lifestyle! She was every bit as important to him as the ruler of the Jews he had just met in Jerusalem named Nicodemus!  Are you too ‘choosy’ about the people you introduce to Jesus? He wants to meet everyone! Is there anything about the way you worship God that would upset Jesus? Remember, he knows everything that is in your heart.  Don’t let yourself be distracted by all the clutter and clatter going on around you. Which one of Satan’s strategies are you most vulnerable to: the lust of your flesh , the lust of your eyes , or your own pride ? When we are tempted, God wants us to come to Him and ask for help.
