A young woman from Dakar works for a French family and, after being cut off from her family and familiar surroundings, experiences despair and loneliness, resulting in tragedy. A first-time watch for Valerie, she ruminates over this 55 min debut from director Ousmane Sembene.  A tough one to shake.
