Rather than a temple, he goes to the marketplace and rather than the Torah, he starts with their Greek philosophers. The Greeks needed to know Jesus is King.

Week 6 - Jesus is King 14.06.2025

Conflict hits the church in Acts 6 as a group of widows is being neglected in the distribution of daily food. We need reminders, that conflict and offense are unavoidable topics when people get in the same room. This passage will highlight for us the importance of leadership, service, and care that needs to be present within a church body.

Week 5 - Jesus is king 03.06.2025

The new temple of Jesus (followers filled with the Holy Spirit) is held up in comparison to the Jerusalem temple. The temple was supposed to be a place where heaven and earth met and a place that embodied the presence of God through generosity and healing. However, now under the reign of Jesus, we see the temple isn’t the physical location but the people of Jesus filled with is spirit.

Week 4 - Jesus is King 26.05.2025

Acts 2:41-47 speaks to the culture of the Church that is birthed from the start. While these early days aren’t meant to be over-romanticized, this is a vision of what happens when God’s people live yielded to his Spirit! The Church lives sent to demonstrate the district, Jesus way of life.

Week 3 - Jesus is King 20.05.2025

Peter stands on the day of Pentecost and proclaims a message that has anchored the Church for the last 2,000 years. He invites the audience that day to examine the story of the world and the story of their lives. God sent Jesus to pay our sin debt, to defeat death, and to bring us back into his presence. It’s a message that calls us to respond and acknowledge that Jesus is King.

Week 2 - Jesus is King 12.05.2025

Today we’ll study Acts 2:1-21 and examine the day the Church was born during the festival called Pentecost. Gathered are a people who have been scattered across the world who will now be unified around the risen Jesus and filled with his Spirit.

As Jesus sits down with his disciples in his final hours, he brings to them the terms of the marriage covenant: You must believe that I am the way to the father, I am the transcendent truth, and I am the only way to life. Our response to these terms determines the rest of our lives.

All of us are being led somewhere, the question is, which voice are we allowing to lead us? With this claim in John 10, Jesus will declare: the only way to the abundant life is if you follow me because I AM the Good Shepherd.

Light is essential for our sight, our safety, and our survival. The claim Jesus makes in John 8 is that if you want see in a way that leads to the good life, you have to come to him.
