A Christmas Melody 02.12.2022

Jane and Brandon really hold Mariah Carey’s feet to the fire with this one. They simply will not let her have a damn thing in her directorial debut. Lacey Chabert and Kathy Najimy do their best but there’s no competition when Mariah’s lighting team is on the case. While we can’t say this was good, we know our hosts enjoyed every delicious moment. Tune in to hear all about it! Hosted on Acast. See...

The Temp 25.11.2022

This week Brandon and Jane set their lasers to 1993 and watch a film that neitherhad ever seen! The Temp! We discuss the complexities of a world with two Tom Hollands (only two!), the sartorial excellence of the clothing worn by Laura Flynn Boyle and Faye Dunaway, and ask the age old question. If a movie falls apart in its last act and no one is in the theatres to watch it, does it really have an...

Imagine Me & You 18.11.2022

Jane and Brandon don't have to IMAGINE what it would be like to be gay in the 2000s. Join us this week for a lesbian rom-com that is both relatable and at the same time confusing with an all-star cast (Lena Headey, Piper Perabo) you won't want to miss!  Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Angel 11.11.2022

This week, Brandon and Jane discuss another 80s classic. While navigating technical difficulties, we discuss Hollywood Boulevard, Mae West, and the peculiar way sex work was documented in the 80s films. This one me is equal parts silly and gritty! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

The Sweetest Thing 04.11.2022

Cameron Diaz, Christina Applegate, and Selma Blair are worth every penny. This script? Left something to be desired but we somehow enjoyed it? Still unpacking that one! Brandon and Jane get together to discuss whether this early 2000’s rom-com is feminism or annoying pick-me behavior. They also spend arguably too much time on the strange blonde color of Thomas Jane’s “blonde” hair. Hosted on Acast...

What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? 28.10.2022

This week Brandon and Jane discuss the star power of Bette Davis and Joan Crawford, the ageism of old (and present day) Hollywood, and ask the question that has haunted queer movie purveyors for the last 60 years? Can you wear white after Labor Day? I kid, I kid! The real question is…Whatever happened to Baby Jane?! Tune in to find out! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

The Purge 22.10.2022

Would Jane and Brandon survive the purge? Do you think they would take the opportunity to off that nosy neighbor or coworker who accidentally slighted them? Lena Headey and Ethan Hawke do their best but we can’t help but question the casting choice on this one. Join us to find out how our hosts would handle it if the purge became a reality. Spoiler alert: not well! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/p...

Killer Klowns from Outer Space 14.10.2022

This week Brandon and Jane discuss the plausibility of a UFO turned bloody big tent, the perils of film without a continuity person, and what it is that makes Killer Klowns feel satiated. Do human remains taste as good without a crazy straw? We don't want to live in a world where we have to find out! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

2 Fast 2 Furious 07.10.2022

Jane and Brandon are bringing the family back to MWM! Except, there’s one significant member missing. Whose idea was it to make a Fast & Furious sequel without Vin Diesel?! We still have the late great Paul Walker involved, along with the abs of Tyrese Gibson and the totally unnecessary and lackluster love affair with the lovely Eva Mendes who at one point wears the biggest belt we’ve ever seen. A...

That Old Feeling 30.09.2022

This week Brandon and Jane discuss a not so famous late 90s rom com. We discuss the star power of Bette Midler, the unexpected comedic turn of the late great Dennis Farina, and ponder why this film that centers on the romantic relationship between two fifty somethings wasn’t a bigger hit at the box office. Wait… I think we just answered our own question. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for...

How To Deal 23.09.2022

I don’t think anyone involved in making this 2003 teen romcom anticipated two queers in their 30’s absolutely pulling it apart piece by piece 20 years later. Join Jane and Brandon as they discuss this Mandy Moore classic supported by the underutilized Alison Janney, Peter Gallagher, and Nina Foch — a woman who we can only assume was 5 steps behind Cloris Leachman for her entire career. Hosted on A...

The Terminator 16.09.2022

This week Brandon and Jane head back to 1984 (don’t tell Skynet!). We are revisiting the James Cameron joint that launched the career of Arnold Schwarzenegger and a movie empire. Topics include bitchin’ 80s fashion, the irrelevance of phone books and the dangers of wearing a Walkman during dare I say it…coitus! We are asking the hard questions and you’ll be cackling before you can say “hasta la vi...

Party Monster 26.08.2022

Jane and Brandon have a frank discussion about the cult classic starring Macaulay Culkin and Seth Green. While they touch on the movie, they also discuss a documentary made by the same filmmakers called Party Monster: The Shockumentary. They spend a good amount of time covering how a tragic story about Angel Melendez, who’s life was cut short, is overshadowed by the narcissistic Michael Alig’s lif...

Class Act 19.08.2022

This week Jane and Brandon take a trip 30 years back (yep, that’s where 1992 resides, we’re sad about it too!) to discuss iconic 1980’s/1990’s rap duo turned amazing cinematic foils Kid n’ Play. We drool over the 1990’s fashions, discuss a movie that, while not without faults, features some of the first responsible messaging around safer sex practices and interesting social commentary regarding th...

Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason 17.08.2022

We’re back with Bridge and the gang in jolly old London! And Thailand for some reason? The whole gang is with us for round two: Renee Zellweger, Colin Firth, Hugh Grant, and the underutilized Jim Broadbent. We discuss love, marriage, international drug smuggling, and something we never thought we’d say — an ill advised lesbian twist Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Rope 05.08.2022

This week Brandon and Jane take a trip nearly 80 years back into the cinematic archive to watch Alfred Hitchcock’s Rope. We discuss the film’s initial tepid response, its coded homosexual undertones, and the power of a prep school housemaster who carries himself with the swagger of a seasoned detective. You won’t wanna miss this timeless thriller! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more in...

Blue Crush 29.07.2022

Join us as we cover this sapphic cult classic despite it having no actual lesbian content. We discuss the amazing CGI work of the early aughts, the joy of Faizon Love, the inherent queerness of Michelle Rodriquez, and the star power of our young Kate Bosworth. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Demolition Man 22.07.2022

This week Brandon and Jane discuss Wesley Snipes’ curiosity blonde hair, the demilitarization of a fictional police force of the future, and the restaurant wars that somehow ended in Taco Bell reigning supreme in 2032. What was 1993 thinking?! We spend this episode trying to figure it out! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

The Wedding Singer 15.07.2022

Join us for the iconic rom com starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore in their first flick together. We talk about the 80’s, what year this movie would be covering if it was made today, and how being an Adam Sandler stan means just enjoying the movie “Happy Gilmore.” Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Two Can Play That Game 08.07.2022

On this weeks episode, Brandon and Jane discuss late 90’s/early aughts gender politicking in movies, Black romantic comedies, the chemistry of Vivica A. Fox and Morris Chestnut, and the under utilization of Mo’Nique! Also, we break down the the problematic nature of attempting to “train” your partner and the importance of a great lighting designer on the film set!!! (Ms. Viv is LIT!) Hosted on Aca...

We’re back in Edward and Bella land and in this first installment of the final chapter we see Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson film the sexiest love scene committed to film. Taylor Lautner’s Jacob falls in love with a baby and Jane and Brandon spend too much time dissecting vampire sperm. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

In & Out 24.06.2022

Brandon and Jane discuss the complications of making a gay romantic comedy for straight audiences, the absence of Tom Selleck’s mustache, the charm of Kevin Kline, and their love and adoration for Joan Cusack. This is a gay movie for the whole family! What does that really mean though? In thinking about the romanticization of a particular kind of image of American life, where do images of queernes...

Saving Face 17.06.2022

Continuing on with our Pride series, we cover the only queer, AAPI, and women-led movie out there. At least we think. We get a glimpse into what it was like for a successful, first generation Chinese American doctor who is also a lesbian to navigate a relationship in the closet. While living with her pregnant mother. In 2005. It's layers on layers on layers of intersectionality for this delightful...

Can't Stop The Music 10.06.2022

Brandon and Jane kick off Pride month with 1970's gay cinema, what really goes on at the YMCA after dark, Steve Gutenberg’s propensity for short shorts, The Village People, and the importance of plot points. There’s also tangents on the problematic politics of Caitlin Jenner and what it really means to have your pockets lined by Big Milk!!! Spoiler alert: this thing goes deeper than any of us coul...

Wayne's World 03.06.2022

Join us as Jane ushers Brandon, the only person left on the planet who hasn’t seen this movie, through the most iconic SNL film of all time. Mike Myers and Dana Carvey are a delight as Wayne and Garth, and Rob Lowe and Tia Carrere round out the rest of cast to give us all a little "Schwing" in our pants. We’re not worthy! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
