Revelation 3:14-22 -- Though the church of Sardis were physically wealthy and lacked nothing, they failed to recognize their spiritual need, and thus were “Luke-warm” and unusable. King Jesus calls them to humility, to recognize their need and find hope in the true riches of heaven.

Revelation 2:1-7 -- The church in Ephesus was praised as one who upheld truth to the world around them. Despite this, they strayed away from loving their neighbors. King Jesus challenges them to pursue faithfulness by displaying the same love they receive in Jesus.

Revelation 1:1-20 -- John receives a vision of Jesus, who comes as the victorious Son of Man. Here he is commanded to send messages to seven churches of Asia Minor and encouraging them to pursue faithfulness.

John 20:1-18 -- In Jesus' resurrection, hope is offered to all. It gives us the security of knowing that God makes good on his promises, and it transforms us to live as a new humanity, faithful to God.

John 12:12-36 -- Jesus entered into Jerusalem to accomplish God's plan of redemption. Despite his disciples' expectations, Jesus accomplishes God's plan through shameful sacrifice. This gives us hope, knowing that God is present even when our circumstances betray our expectations.

1 Corinthians 8:1-13 -- In our union in Christ and one another, there is freedom from the rules and regulations of the mosaic law. However, a proper understanding of our freedom means that we are ultimately free to sacrifice our comforts for the sake of others, that all may be built up and grow to be more like Jesus.

Romans 12:9-21 -- In this portion of Paul's letter, he gives us concrete examples of what Christian love looks like. In all of these things, we see a picture of the love of Christ and his commitment to us

Romans 8:1-11 -- Despite the grim reality of sin, Christians have hope in the grace of God that transforms. Through His Spirit, there is a guarantee that Christians will be made new by faith to grow and become more like Jesus.

Galatians 2:15-21 -- Paul writes to refocus the church on God's work of redemption. Christians are justified, or seen good enough, not because of anything they bring to the table, but only on God's free offer of grace found in his Son.

Ephesians 1:3-10 -- Paul opens his letter to the church and praises God. Before the foundation of the world, God has chosen those whom he redeemed, and secured salvation through his Son. We have the assurance that by faith, our future is secure.

Hebrews 11:32-12:2 -- The author of Hebrews reminds us that we are a part of a history of redemption that stretches back to the beginning of time. As we journey through the difficulties of life, we have hope that Christ brings joins us together into this history of faith, and secures our eternal future.
