Mosaic Church Teachings

This teaching looks at how Zechariah, Elizabeth, and Mary respond to God after times of waiting. We see how God loves when we respond to him in faith and how it's never too late to turn back to Him and embrace our 2nd response.

This teaching looks at the theme of waiting through the story of Zechariah and the preceding 400 years of silence from God. Waiting is hard, and it can either strengthen or kill our hope. But, if you're into God, you're into waiting. So let's wait well!

This teaching introduces Luke's Gospel, setting, context, major themes, and also dives into the concept of God's upside-down Kingdom. Due to the raging blizzard outside, this teaching was originally given over Facebook Live. This special "Give Thanks" celebration gathering included our kids and focused on the true nature of thanksgiving: It's commanded. It's not ultimately based on our feelings or circumstances. It's a choice. And it's founded in God's great work for us in Christ.

This teaching looks at the Biblical notion of justice - intentionally disadvantaging yourself for the advantage of others. It's not enough to know what is just and right, true justice occurs when it is done and acted upon. As followers of Christ, we are called to do justice to our neighbors. This teaching occurred during a special "Family Central Gathering" with our kids joining us.

This teaching looks at the concept of "training for godliness" by considering the categories of hedonism and asceticism, two extremes toward which all peoples tend to lean.  Christians are called to walk in wisdom between these two extremes, while also noticing that Jesus himself tended to be accused of hedonism!  

This teaching looks at the nature of membership within God's church and specifically how membership in the body of Christ can be easily yet detrimentally confused with membership in a local church organization.

This teaching builds on the previous teaching and shows the strong heritage of strong female leaders in the early church.  It seeks to further clarify that the holistic Biblical teaching supports the ministry and leadership of women in the household of God.

This teaching examines the difficult scriptures that seem to prohibit women from teaching and leading within the church. It shows how these passages have been widely misinterpreted and argues instead for a scriptural basis for women teaching and leading in the church.

This teaching kicks off Tallgrass Church's fall semester with a new logo, new LIFE Groups, vision for various ministries, and a refocus on neighboring well.  It looks at Romans 15:2-7 for our motivation to do any and all of these things well: the Gospel!

This special baptism celebration included a sermonette on baptism followed by the testimony videos and baptisms of Kassi Chapman, Scott Hertzig, and Jurnee LeMoine.

This teaching looks at what the Bible says about the topic of homosexuality.  It addresses current popular arguments in support of homosexual relationships and also shows from the Scriptures how the consistent Biblical ideal for human sexual expression is exclusively one man and one woman who become one flesh for one lifetime.

This introductory message laid out the foundations for the upcoming series on 1 Timothy and framed up the whole book in terms of aiming for love as we deal with difficult issues in the church. It also addresses tips and resources on how to study books of the Bible.

This teaching looks at worship as a far broader category than just singing music and asserts that worship is our response to God's revelation. This teaching also examines how worship can be expressed both individually and within the Body of Christ.

This teaching looked to answer the question "Why Believe in Jesus?" by looking at objective evidence for His resurrection. It made the case that it is reasonable to conclude that Jesus rose from the dead based on five historical facts that are nearly universally accepted by even the most skeptical scholars on the subject: (1) Jesus died by crucifixion, (2) the disciples believed that he rose from...

This teaching looked at the evidence for the reliability of the Bible.  It addressed three main questions commonly raised against the Bible's reliability: (1) Hasn't the Bible been changed? (2) Isn't the Bible full of historical inaccuracies and contradictions? (3) Isn't the Bible just another holy book?

This first message of this series on why Christian faith is reasonable looks at the foundational question of "Why believe in God?".  It examines four clues to the existence of God outside the Bible: 1) the origin of the universe, 2) the fine tuning of the universe, 3) the origin of morality, and 4) the existence beauty and love, and shows why the most reasonable explanation for all these is the ex...

This teaching expanded on the idea of speaking the truth in love to encompass living our entire lives in line with the reality of God's view of the church.  Hearers were encouraged to consider why they would decide to "do" church the way this series has described and what practically that might look like.

This teaching looked at how our modern understanding of church has been catastrophically influenced by paganism.  It looks to help us move away from the traditional "institutional" model of church toward the New Testament "organic" model where Christ is the Head Pastor and church leaders equip the people to do the work of ministry.

This teaching looks at King Jesus who came to earth to win and distribute gifts to his children, for the building up of the Body of Christ: the church.

This teaching looked at the human body as a biblical metaphor for the church and examined some characteristics of healthy and unhealthy church bodies.

On Sunday, March 4, 5-6:15pm at  College Heights Baptist Church  we gathered for our third and final Tallgrass Church Vision Gathering! This gathering was open to anyone interested in hearing more about Tallgrass. We talked a lot about Tallgrass Church's vision for neighboring. Potluck dinner followed.
