There is a promise of eternal rest for those who come to Jesus. But what does that rest look like and how do we enter it?

The truths in this passage have been debated for centuries within the Church. However, Jesus gives praise to the Father for these truths. Instead of becoming frustrated at the depths of these words, we should seek rather to understand them. No one can come to the Father unless the Son reveals Him.

Jesus preaches a message in these verses that would be considered by many to be a "fire and brimstone" message. But you can't have a full Gospel without speaking of both heaven and hell. We must heed Jesus' warnings, woes, and judgments He pronounces on those who reject the Gospel so that we can test ourselves to see if we truly are in the faith.

The Gospel is received by those who have ears to hear. In this passage, Jesus gives us two difficult truths: We must not bring our own ideas about Jesus or His Kingdom and we must relentlessly pursue the Kingdom. The Gospel will not bend or break and neither should we.
