Last week, Abby got what she considered an unexpected gift. The math relay game that Mrs. Bellamy had posted on the blackboard was suddenly cancelled. Abby saw the cancellation as a win that for once went in her favor.

In Chapter 2, we learned that Abby hates Spelling Bees. She even has a special name for them, Spell Outs! She calls it that because as much as she'd love to win a blue ribbon, being the first student in her class to get called out always gets in the way of her dream.

Last week, we met Abby, a fifth grader who secretly wants to know what it feels like to win a spelling bee. There's just one problem-she thinks she's the worst speller in her entire class. When Abby is picked to be a Classroom Buddy to a new student named Cee Cee, she puts aside her dreams of winning a blue ribbon - at least for one day.

In Chapter 14, the girls finally got their chance to compete, and they didn't disappoint. All of their practices and preparation had paid off. They were going to be one of the top five teams to compete in the Free-Style Fusion portion of the competition. The winning team would be declared Best in the Show.

In Chapter 13, the girls were feeling the pressure of entering a real competition when they saw so many other teams. However, when Nancy suggested they "look up" when they jumped. The idea seemed to help take away some of their fears.

Last week, the girls arrived in New York City. They were excited and amazed at the sights. Nancy and Ming were especially moved when they saw The Statue of Liberty. Wanting to make this experience a time to remember, Coach Hughes had the girls get together for a special team and family photo.

In Chapter 11, Coach Hughes, the AJ's, and the girls were finally on their way to New York City for the Double Dutch competition. What made the event even more special was seeing parents and friends from Grover Elementary School arriving all ready to support them.

In Chapter 10, Coach Hughes worked with the girls to help get them ready for the competition. Though they didn't understand her methods, the more they listened to her, the more they understood she was turning them into a team of winners.

Mr. and Mrs. AJ asked Mrs. Edith Hughes to coach The Double Dutch Club for their competition, but the girls weren't exactly excited about it. However, when they looked in the memory book Mrs. Hughes had brought with her, they realized she had experienced lots of wins and had established herself as one of the best Double Dutch coaches around.

In Chapter 8, Mr. and Mrs. AJ revealed a wonderful surprise for the girls of The Double Dutch Club - new uniforms for each one of them. They were a team and the AJ's wanted to make sure they looked like one.

In Chapter 7, Nancy left Double Dutch practice because of Tanya's constant bullying and decided not to return. When Tanya realized how much her words had hurt Nancy, she was determined to find her and bring her back.

Last week, the girls had gotten the AJs to sponsor them for the competition, and it was time for them to get ready. However, Tanya's constant criticism of Nancy caused her to leave. When Tanya realized she had gone too far, she put aside her pride and was determined to bring Nancy back.

In our last episode, the girls of the Double Dutch Club needed a sponsor in order to enter the National Double Dutch Competition. They happily convinced Mr. and Mrs. AJ to take on the responsibility. They promised to put in the practice needed to win the beautiful trophy. The girls had successfully met their first challenge and looked forward to getting their chance to become Double Dutch champion...

In Chapter 4, Rachel finally got the chance to share her good news with her friends about an upcoming Double Dutch competition. And when she did, the girls were excited. With Nancy's suggestion, they all agreed to call themselves The Double Dutch Club.

Last week, everything changed for Rachel when she saw a special notice in the window of Mr. AJ's store. There was going to be a Double Dutch competition, and she wanted the girls who jumped with her on the blacktop every day during recess to be in it.

In our last episode, Nancy and Ming became friends when Mrs. Richards gave an assignment for them to read together. Nancy wasn't the best reader, but she got better with Ming's help. Nancy also got her chance to jump with the girls on the black top when Ming declared, "she's jumping with us today".

In episode 1, Nancy Adjei, an eleven-year-old from Sierra Leone discovered a jump rope game called Double Dutch. She longed to be included, but two things held her back: she was too shy to ask, and she didn't know how to jump Double Dutch.
