Setting Our Course 12.02.2023

In September of 2011 our church set a course which incorporated three goals: 1) interpret scripture according to God's rules for Bible study 2) maintain a multi-generational perspective 3) one another one another (inside & outside the church) Today, we reckoned our current position on that trek.

Dual Nature of the Born Again 05.02.2023

Born again children of God have a sin nature they must fight every day, and sometimes we lose. Recognize the battle, prepare thyself for the battle, and engage.

Double Imputation 29.01.2023

Gideon, Barak, Samson, and Jephthah led very diverse spiritual lives; yet they were all listed in Hebrews 11 and glory bound. Grace plus nothing [which includes double imputation] is the only plan of salvation that gets all four to heaven.

Scripture Alone 22.01.2023

God's word is inspired and preserved. It is also our only authority, our only curriculum, and the standard we use to measure all teaching. And on top of that, Satan hates it and men are always adding to it.

From Faith to Faith 15.01.2023

Two faith "types": 1) a portion of which is planted in the child of God at regeneration, and 2) a portion of faith which is exercised after regeneration. From "type 1" faith which is planted to "type 2" faith which is grown.

Faith: Quantity & Quality 08.01.2023

Some faith is kept, other faith is cast away. Some faith is grounded, other faith is made shipwreck. Some faith justifies, other faith is vain and void. Is there such a thing as passing faith? Is there such a thing as minimum faith? This message will attempt to corral faith ... if such a thing is even possible.

The Dumb Spake (depravity) 01.01.2023

The dumb speak. Not really! A dumb man is healed, then he speaks. The blind see. Not really! A blind man is healed, then he sees. The same cause and effect relationship happens whether the malady is physical or spiritual. This effort addresses the doctrine of total depravity from a different perspective. (message re-recorded due to technical difficulties)

Son of the Highest (Godman) 25.12.2022

God came down from heaven and took on the form of man. For 33+ years Jesus (100% God, 100% man) walked this planet. The Godman caused people to wonder ... as an infant, a child, and an adult.

Written in Heaven (salvation) 18.12.2022

When were the names of God's children written in heaven? Answer: a long time ago! This effort shall attempt to address some of the planning, the love, and the permanence of having one's name written in heaven. (message was re-recorded due to technical difficulties with original).

Follow Me is not Close Order Drill 11.12.2022

Peter and Paul both followed Jesus, although Peter's ministry had a Hebrew focus and Paul's had a Gentile focus (Gal 2:7-8). Some of Jesus' follow me's were customized and some of His follow me's were unilateral ... a tough pill to swallow for legalists and religionists.

Parable of the Six Soils 04.12.2022

The Parable of the Six Ground Types, often called the Parable of the Sower, is a message about six types of people (three fruit bearing and three non-fruit bearing). But: Is this parable addressing sheep and goats, or Is this parable addressing lost sheep and found sheep?

Can Christianity & Woke Co-exit? 27.11.2022

Can Christianity and Wokeness co-exist? Not if you believe Jesus came to earth to save sinners. If sin isn't sin, then Jesus came to earth for nothing, He died for nothing, and the gospel isn't good news Christians claim it is. Part 3 in this three part series.

Peter & John Faced Woke 20.11.2022

The world is tolerant of every doctrine, but Jesus'; however, the church ought to refuse every doctrine, accept Jesus'. Jewish leaders challenged John and Peter with woke on at least three occasions in Acts 4 & 5. The apostles chose God, rather than woke.

Jesus Faced Woke 13.11.2022

There are three kinds of people when it comes to cultural wokeness: 1) those who set the standard, 2) those who comply with the standard, and 3) those who ignore the standard. Jesus always complied with God's standard, as should we.

God does not fit into my box 06.11.2022

Recorded in Mark 5 is deliverance from demonic possession, a blood issue, and death. The manner in which Jesus delivered these three individuals was quite diverse. God does not fit in my boxes; but sadly, I find myself continually making new boxes.

What's in it for Me? 30.10.2022

Israel asked God, "Lord, when have we ever spoken against thee?" God answered, when you questioned the profitability of obeying My ordinances. In other words, when Israel said, "What's in it for Me?" We shall address this subject from both an earthly and an eternal perspective.

Pastoring/Parenting without Regrets 17.10.2022

Pastors and Parents seek the middle ground between too severe and too compassionate, between oppressive and passive. Paul found that middle ground, David did not. Paul could say at the end of his life, I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, and I have kept the faith. David's last words included regrets over poor parenting. Note: a paraphrased comment taken from Jordan Peterson rega...

Independence or In Dependence? 09.10.2022

A theme thread through 2nd Corinthians is: Paul's dependence upon the Lord. Paul came to learn that dependence upon God was strength and wisdom, not weakness. This is the fifth and final message in this series.

Paul Preached Jesus 02.10.2022

The importance of preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ is a theme woven throughout 2nd Corinthians. Paul also warned that the preaching of the gospel would be opposed and challenged by Satan, false teachers, and our own flesh. This is part 4 in this series from 2nd Corinthians.

Sword: Drawn or Sheathed? 25.09.2022

A theme of suffering is woven throughout the epistle of 2nd Corinthians. However, Paul does not describe a "stand by Jesus armed" response; rather, he describes a "lay down for others" type of response. This is part 3 in the 2nd Corinthians series.

I don't want to - but I will 18.09.2022

As a whole, the church at Corinth repented of the sins listed by Paul in 1st Corinthians; however, the was a remnant of saints who had not. Paul wrote this remnant that he did not want to come to the church and have to address these sins; but he would if he had to. Part 2 in this 2nd Corinthians series.

Following Up, a Year Later 11.09.2022

Paul wrote 2nd Corinthians one year after having had written 1st Corinthians, which was a very stern letter. Today's sermon provides an overview of the 1st Corinthian epistle and a description of the Corinthian Church's response to that letter, chapter 7. (Part 1 in the 2nd Corinthian's book series).
