Meet Me in the Word: Bible Study with Pastor Tim

Send Tim a note Who do you confide in?  Is there someone you've allowed to see past whatever protective layers you have?  We all need that safe person!  Part of what I love about the Psalms as a whole, and Psalm 6 in particular, is the combination of honesty and faith.  Apparently, it really is okay to bring your whole self into the presence of God.  Support the show For a reading plan and to...

Send Tim a note When you make a promise, how do you keep it?  What do you offer beyond good intentions?  This is a continuation of last Friday's episode (Joshua 2:1-12) and I LOVE how God continues to encourage and remind the people of Israel that His plan is the best. This passage was just what I needed for today and my prayer is that God uses it in your life as well.  Support the show For a...

Send Tim a note The problem with hypocrisy isn't just that it's mean and degrading, it actually puts us in danger when we participate in it.  Who is actually in charge anyway?  Beyond that, God doesn't lead us in that way. Instead, He uses things like kindness and patience to bring about change in us. Support the show For a reading plan and to learn more about this devotional.  Chec...

Send Tim a note How often do you think about your life?  Your mortality? Your legacy?  Do you ever think about what living forever would be like? This genealogy speaks to life, death, and what we do with the time we have.  (This is Tim's favorite episode so far) Support the show For a reading plan and to learn more about this devotional.  Check out the website! https://meetmeintheword.com/ Wa...

Send Tim a note The incredibly eccentric and bold John The Baptist challenged the people of his day to live differently.  Some responded well and others, not so much.  What about you and me?  Good news, we don't have to do any of this alone! Send Tim a note What does your prayer life sound like? Hopeful? Bold? Expectant? Mad? I'm both amazed and comforted at the level of honesty we find in the Psalms. No matter what's happening in your life right now, you can bring it... all of it, to God. Send Tim a note How often do those worst case scenarios you play up in your mind turn out to be true?  I am guilty of doing the same thing and yet, so many times the actual event turns out to be much better than I anticipated. God is absolutely faithful and two of Israel's spies find out in the most surprising way! Support the show For a reading plan and to learn more about this devotional. ...

Send Tim a note Yup... this one's got some spice in it.  More importantly, it challenges us to consider who we're really worshipping and whether or not we are downgrading from what's true (and good) to lesser things.  Support the show For a reading plan and to learn more about this devotional.  Check out the website! https://meetmeintheword.com/ Want to support this ministry but don...

Send Tim a note [Please excuse a couple of "skips" in today's audio. Rookie (me) mistake ;)] How do you deal with disappointment or rejection?  We all have moments of falling short but what we do with those moments can make all the difference in the world. The story of Cain and Abel is so much more than hatred and murder.  It shows us the importance of taking our response seriously...

Send Tim a note The account of Jesus' birth is one of the most encouraging and hope-filled parts of the Gospel.  It is, though, a story of good and evil; light versus the darkness.  Even when darkness is overwhelming, the light will not be overtaken by it.  Support the show For a reading plan and to learn more about this devotional.  Check out the website! https://meetmeintheword.com/ Want to...

Send Tim a note Not every quiet moment of reflection is  just  peaceful.  Sometimes we hear things that compel us to make changes in our lives.  The good news is that we can experience God's restoration, richness, and security when we come under His guidance. Send Tim a note Why are you the way that you are? Sometimes looking at ourselves is scarier than we'd like to admit, especially if we do it honestly.  While this chapter is undeniably bleak, we find that hope and God's loving pursuit of us, His creation, are present.  Be encouraged! Send Tim a note We can have all the access and the right information in the world but what will we do with it?  This is so much more than "just" part of the Christmas story, this is testimony to the goodness of God and the way He leads those who seek after Him. Send Tim a note What does worship look like when you’re under duress?  One of the great gifts of the Psalms is the way they often model what  honest  praise looks like. Pain and chaos are a part of life for everyone, including David, so what do we do in response to that?  May God bring you every encouragement that you need in the middle of the storm.
