David's sin with Bathsheba was forgiven by God, but he still experienced the consequences of his sin here on earth. In this chapter his daughter is raped by his son, and then that son is killed by his other son. What a mess! We are reminded that God's grace can still come into any situation and that the gospel can make something beautiful out of the messes we make. Support the show

David's sin was egregious. It was his acknowledgement of his guilt before a holy God and his sorrow for his sin that led him to write Psalm 51.
