Manners & Madness: A Jane Austen & David Lynch Podcast

This week we have a delightful episode with a record number of guests. Lindsay Curry and Josh Waller join us to discuss the 1995 classic teen comedy Clueless. We get nostalgic, figure out which characters relate to Emma and take a quiz to find out which Clueless characters we are.

This week is a little off the wall and features a podcast miracle! We talk about The Witch and ponder a connection to Emma, we tell a few more fun stories, take a quiz and possibly make podcast history 5 minutes in.

This week we go back to some of David Lynch’s earliest shorts. We cover, Premonitions Following and Evil Deed, Six Men Getting Sick, The Amputee, The Alphabet and The Granmother. We look at each short on its own and compare it to his later work, we also do a deep dive on Catherine E. Coulson.

This week we wrap up our discussion of 2020’s Emma. We celebrate Autumn de Wilde, contemplate the complexities of teenage girls and learn about the nuances of Miss Bates.

This week is our check-in episode. We wrap up Northanger Abbey and the first season of Twin Peaks, read a mash-up mystery and figure out which century certain characters belong in.

This week we have a super sized finale episode where we cover the final chapters of Northanger Abbey. We see Catherine grow up, finally get to know Eleanor, hear wedding bells, and put Northanger Abbey back on the shelf for now. This week we check in and check up on each other. We contemplate out dream adaptation of Northanger Abbey, speculate on Twin Peaks, imagine an Audrey/Catherine mash-up and randomly talk about food quite a bit.

This week we have a conversation between Maya And her sister Chelsea. We recorded this back in January after Chelsea watched the 1995 Sense and Sensibility for the first time. We discuss the movie and get her first impressions. Then in the second half we talk Twin Peaks, Fire Walk with Me and Season 3.
