There is an amazing group of Senior Writers that work from the Dr. Edith Rock Group as part of the Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn, NY. Three of these wonderful storytellers are visiting  LYNNIE GODFREY STRAIGHT NO CHASER to tell their stories. So much information and history will be discussed in the is part one of a two episode viist. 

Two Years ago LYNNIE GODFREY STRAIGHT NO CHASER oppened with the incomparable MELBA TOLLIVER in a two-part series and we salute that effort this eppisode and review in conversation some of the wonderful Guests that have passed through the STRAIGHT NO CHASER  Doors.

I return with a conversation about the legendary JUANITA MOORE ABOUT HER LIFE AND CAREER. Featuring the Director Kirk Kelleykahn and writer Celeste B. Walker of the documentary A STAR WITHOUT  A STAR!

Katrin Hilbe is a trans-continental Director and advocate of the Theatre. She and Lynnie work together at the League of Professional Theatre Women. Her life is spent on a lot of airplanes but she makes it work. Lynnie Godfrey looks forward to the in-depth conversation about her lif and passions as she also serves as CO-President of LPTW like Ludovica Villar Hauser.

Ludovica-Villar Hauser and Lynnie Godfrey are new acquaintances. They share a passion...THE THEATRE. They work together at the League of Professional Theatre Women where Ludovica serves as Co-President with next week's Guest Katrin Hilbe. What a dynamic pair. The audience will get an opportunity to hear from both of them. Their stories and aspirations. It will be a wonderful journey.

Lynnie Godfrey and Abdul Ali met years ago when Abdul interviewed her while she was performing the role of Aunt Esther  in  August Wilson's GEM OF THE OCEAN. A friendship has grown over the years and now the will discuss how their lives are inertwining again. Interesting and Fun !

Lynnie Godfrey was recently asked to narrate a video for the CHILDREN'S THEATRE FOUDATION OF AMERICA by its CEO SUZAN ZEDER, out of that experience has sparned a budding friendship. They will discuss Suzan's interesting journey as an eduacator, playwright, and advocate for the voice of Children. Suzan's Huband Jim Hancock, Director and Movement Specialist will also be a guest.  

Lynnie Godfrey has know Julius Hollingsworth since he was 14 and she was 18 at the last workshop of the NEGRO ENSEMBLE COMPANY (NEC). Madeline joined a short tour of Lynnie's non-profit ESSENCE OF ACTING (EOA)  and a lovely friendship has developedd. Both have recently had life changing events in their lives. Let us see if they are kind enought to share some of their experiences with us.

The final TOWN HALL of the season boasts probable guests: Franz Jones, Brenda Thomas Denmark, Deborah Fudge Rhem, Daryle Young, Julius Hollinsgworth, Joi Morton WIley, and Brenda Shipp. Very interesting conversation to be had!

Lynnie Godfrey met Dave Willard when they both served on Boards at ArtsQuest in Pennsylvania. Little did Lynnie know how deeply Dave was involved in the corporrate world and the ARTS. His wife, Monica was a gold mine bonus to the relationship. What a conversation about corporate business/structure,  the United Nations and the ARTS.

Lynnie Godfrey met Sandford Robbins decades ago in Los Angeles. Most recently in this decade they met again at the University of Delaware. Lynnie was invited to direct her non-profit ensemble at the University. They presented a reading of Celeste Bedford Walker's GREENWOOD:AN AMERICAN DREAM DESTROYED. Now they will catch up on where they are, have been , and where they are going.

Lynnie Godfrey directed Billy Ehrlacher in Bathsheba Monk's LOIS' WEDDING in PA. She knew Erika Abbott through Erika's father  the late Ron Abbot who was Production Stage Manager and Producer in the Broadway Production of EUBIE! Iin New York City. Discovering their differences and similarities will make for a lively conversation.

Lynnie Godfrey worked with Clayton LeBouef in the Arena Stage's GEM OF THE OCEAN. They became fast friends and the discussion of issues was their performance warm-up. Clayton, a D.C resident has a history in the ARTS in the theatre. He is not only an actor in the theatre but also works in television and film. What a conversation this wil be.!!!

Lynnie Godfrey met Richard Finkelstein while working ing the theare on his beautiful sets. His immense talent was immediately evident to Lynnie...his beautiful work.  Richard is a talented soft-spoken person who teaches as well and has a lot to say about the ARTS and how it started for him.
