Look to God and Live

Some of the best examples in our lives are our own mothers. They love us no matter what and show us how to live. We'll discuss how our mothers have influenced our lives and brought us closer to God.

From bad test scores to job application rejections to breakups, sometimes it seems hard to feel that God really has a plan for us. At times we feel that if He really had a perfect plan, then life wouldn't be so difficult. We'll discuss how God can use our trials to help us grow and give meaning to even our darkest points of life.

Many people are confused whether belief in Jesus Christ or works after the example of Him are sufficient for a fulfilling life. Salvation only comes through Jesus so it seems that believing in Him is enough. We'll discuss a new perspective that combines both belief and action to show that we don't earn our blessings from God but rather choose to accept His blessings.

Sometimes people see the commandments of God as a checklist or a set of rules. People who don't believe in God may even be confused and say, "You're missing out by living with all those restrictions." We'll discuss how the commandments in a way limiting, but for our benefit. God gave us commandments to guide our choices to live like Him, which is a joy-filled life.

Have you ever had a conversation with someone and they nod their head with an occasional "yeah," but it doesn't feel like they're really listening? Sometimes we might feel God treats us the same way. We speak to Him, but we find it hard to hear when He speaks to us. We'll discuss the many different ways God speaks to us and how to discern His voice. He really does listen and...

At times, we may feel like God has forgotten about us. Endless heartache, unanswered prayers, unexpected loss, or sudden harm may make us feel that God has abandoned us. These experiences are certainly difficult, but God is someone who will never give up on us. He is the same God who endured all of our hardships in Gethsemane and the pains of the cross and He certainly won't abandon us now.

Life has a lot of relationships. There's relationships in families, romantic partners, friends, and even professional settings. However, they often seem fragile and can be easily broken. We'll discuss some of the pitfalls that drive wedges between people and how coming unto Christ can avoid those pitfalls.

Nowadays, Easter is characterized by Springtime, bunnies, eggs, and candy. Most people have fond memories of egg hunts and crinkled candy wrappers from when they were young, but Easter may not seem important to them now. We'll discuss how the true purpose of Easter is to remember all of the amazing things Jesus Christ has done for us, particularly when He conquered death to give us new life.

Making decisions is hard. Sometimes decisions are simple like "Where do I want to eat?" but sometimes they're much harder like "Should I move even if it takes me far away?" We'll discuss how Jesus Christ is the perfect example and how He can guide our decisions.

God is an omniscient, all-powerful, all-knowing being who rules the universe. As amazing as that sounds, sometimes it makes it seem like He's far away or disconnected with our lives. We'll discuss how you can have a personal relationship with God.

Life can get so cluttered sometimes. We have work, school, family, relationships, sports, commitments, there always seems too many things to do with too little time. With all that, sometimes it's difficult to find time for the scriptures and prayer. We'll discuss how you can reprioritize your life by placing Jesus Christ at the center.

The bigger they are, the harder they fall, and that's not more true than for the prideful. Everyone is a bit prideful, even if it's an teeny weeny bit of it, but it can still create a huge block for our happiness. We'll discuss how the cure for pride is the art of letting go.

Obviously, we know that Jesus was a really important Man who did a bunch of really important things. But sometimes it's also hard to understand how a Person who lived 2000 years ago has personal relevance for us today. We'll discuss why Jesus Christ is not just super important, but also super important for you personally.

It's almost impossible to go through life without running into someone that you disagree with or have a hard time getting along with. Unfortunately, sometimes those people are family, friends, or those we love most. We'll discuss how trusting in God also helps us trust in our relationships. We live in one of the most fortunate times in history with instant communication and modern medicine, yet it still seems so difficult to be happy. It seems that we have so many things like social media, friends, or entertainment that can keep us happy for a time but it eventually fades. We'll talk about how prioritizing God will not just help you be happy, but even help you stay happy.

Fear is probably one of the most universal human feelings. Sometimes we're afraid of small things like heights and other times it's big things like losing a loved one. Whatever our fears may be, big or small, God is bigger than them and can help us.

We live in a world where it feels like we have to constantly keep up with all of the new "in groups." From social cliques to political parties to social media trends, it's difficult to find our identity between all of these. We'll discuss how knowing our true identity as children of God can help us find resolution.

I think every person, or even someone they know, has questioned their beliefs at some point. Such crises can be scary when we have to confront if everything that we know is true. We'll discuss how when we focus on the most important things, such as God's love, we can find peace in our questions.

Life is full of hard things. From stressful exams to losing a loved one to struggling to find a job, we encounter difficult situations every day. Nephi, being a powerhouse of faith, is an amazing example of how to take hard things head on. Hopefully we can learn a thing or two from him.

We understand you probably have a lot of questions about what our podcast actually is so we hope to answer some of those in this first episode. Also, we give some brief thoughts about the Book of Mormon before we dive completely into it.
