Have you ever felt numb, detached or "blah"? Do you wonder how you lost your fire or passion for God? Do troubles or worries about life keep you up at night? Psalm 77 models the prayer for these times and the remedy for the times of trouble - remembering the works of the LORD.

The condition of one's heart is going to directly affect one's life. Proverbs 4:20-27 calls us to guard our hearts with all diligence - giving heed to who we're with, where we go and what we do.

Proverbs 4 describes a father appealing to his son to hold fast to his instruction and not let go of the right ways of God. The father says that the righteous shine brighter and brighter as they walk on the LORD's path. Disciple isn't easy but it's important. God our Father repoves and corrects His children because He loves them. How will we respond to his correction? Turn our ears and hearts away or recognize that turning towards God's loving word, even when in reproof is where peace, holiness and righteousness are found.

Proverbs 3:5-6 calls us to "trust in the LORD with all of our hearts and lean not on our own understanding." The LORD knows best and sees beyond what we can see. If we trust the LORD and walk in His ways, even when we don't see the eventually outcome, we will be wise and on the path of life.

The spiritual life does not happen on accident. It requires effort and intentionality. Proverbs 2 outlines a parent instructing their child on the requirements and rewards of a godly and intentional life.

God's wisdom is calling out to all of us: "Come to me! Turn away from the world! Find life! Walk the good path!" Are we listening? Will we turn to Him? Or are we waiting for another time, a better offer or something else?

God gives wisdom to those who know they need it to help us navigate life. He's ready and willing to give it to all and any who ask. Do you know you need wisdom and help or are we like the fools who try and go on our own? A help look a Proverbs 1:1-7 for all who fear the LORD.

The city walls of the ancient world served to protect the people, give boundaries for the city and create identify for the citizens. When a wall was broken those things were threatened. Through the story of Nehemiah's rebuilding effort, we glean spiritual lessons for our life today.

Two disciples walk away from the cross, away from the empty tomb, and away from Jesus. But though may have given up on Jesus, Jesus hadn't given up on them. As we journey with these disciples, we will discover that our eyes can be opened to see the risen Christ today.

Oh to have a passion and desire God that is comparable to a deep hunger for food or thirst for water. This kind of longing is deep and affects your whole life - like being "hangry" when your body needs food. God offers us something that completely satisfies, unlike anything this world can offer. He offers us himself.

Honesty is an important part of our relationship with God. As loved children of God, we can come to our Father with our real and raw hearts. Christian maturity is not appearing to have it all together on the outside but actually about growing in childlikeness.

The devil wants to attack and severe the truth that God loves us and we are his children. Knowing that our identity is a critical point in the spiritual battle, we out to be on guard against the things that might target our belief in God's truth about who we are.

The Christian life is a struggle. We are in a battle against evil spiritual forces. We cannot sit idly by as the devil tries to encroach upon the places God has given us to have authority over. In God's strength, we can stand firm and fight from a position of power - on our knees.

Persistence in prayer is key and challenging at the same time. To teach how important it is for his followers to continue to pray at all times and not lost heart, Jesus teaches a parable about a widow and an unjust judge. This parable teaches us not only to keep asking our Father in prayer, but that the character of the one to whom we pray is generous and just, unlike the judge in the story.
