Shame attacks your identity. Because of shame, the woman at the well tried to hide her sin from Jesus. Yet Jesus lovingly reveals that He already knows her sins but still loves her. Jesus is a rule-breaker. He went to the well when no one else would, in a land no Jew would go to, to a woman no man would talk to, with a reputation no one would want to be around. If you had lived during the time Jesus was on earth, what is the first thing you would have written to others?
