#23 - "D." 05.06.2022

"D." LLR's favorite records by artists or bands whose names start with the letter D. That's deep. In the early 1970s, legendary collaborator and self-proclaimed non-musician Brian Eno famously designed a deck of 115 cards containing elliptical imperatives to spark in the user creative connections unobtainable through regular modes of work. He called his creation "Oblique Strategies." For nearly on...

#22 - One-Hit Wonder(ful) Artists 15.04.2022

Scoring a solitary megahit isn’t exactly a common occurrence for a recording artist. More often than not, they’ll land no singles on the charts whatsoever. When they are lucky enough to score a hit but subsequently fail to produce a follow-up, the label of “one-hit wonder” is often unceremoniously attached to their legacy. Jay & Deon discuss some of their favorite one-hit wonderful artists who...

Jay and Deon discuss their most recent musical obsessions while guest Licker Chris adds an unprecedented FOUR tracks to bonus mixtape number seven. #20 - Love Is... 09.02.2022

Behold, the third annual ridiculously cheeky lovefest from your friends at Lightnin’ Licks Radio. Disgusting. They walk in beauty, like the night Of cloudless climes and starry skies; And all that’s best of dark and bright Meet in their aspect and their eyes; Thus mellowed to that tender light Which heaven to gaudy day denies. One shade the more, one ray the less, Had half impaired the nameless gr...

BONUS - Artificial Intelligence 23.01.2022

[CONNECTION SUCCESSFUL] There will come a time, in the not-too-distant future, when robots will overtake most of the jobs that we humans presently perform. This includes content creation. Machine learning technologies and AI capabilities are growing by the second. AI-generated content will certainly soon be proliferating on the Internet, with consumers less likely to be capable of differentiating...

#19 - Top Albums of 2021 (Year In Review) 09.01.2022

It may be past that time of year, but arriving fashionably late is somewhat Jay & Deon’s M.O. Unfortunately, soooooo many terrible things happened in 2021, many of which we’d like to forget. However, there was no shortage of beautiful vinyl releases unleashed into the word, and those records deserve to be remembered. As is tradition, Jay & Deon “turn it up to 11” to offer up a total of 22...

"B." - LLR's favorite records by artists or bands whose names start with the letter B. B ad ass. Second verse – same as the first. He called h...

What a wonderful way to spend a sizzlin' summer's day! BON...

Whether it’s a deeper cut from the same record, an overlooked jukebox-ready jam from way-back-when, a throw-away comedic outtake or a non-album cover tune; side B of any single has proven to always be worth the spin. Dig deep with Lightnin’ Lickers Jay and Deon as they reflect on ten of their all-time favorite B-side gems. Al...
