Let the Prophets Speak

Eliphaz is upset by Job's outburst, and he criticizes him for not being able to handle the suffering.

Job laments his fate and curses the day upon which he was born.

God approves Satan's suggestion to afflict Job with a terrible disease, and tests Job's faithfulness to God.

In one fateful day, Iyov loses all his wealth, but he remains faithful to God.

God brags before His council about His wonderful Job, but Satan is cynical.

We are introduced to a righteous, upright and wealthy man named Job, who lived in the land of Oz.

We begin our study of the Book of Job with an introduction to the various ways religions have tried to explain why bad things happen to good people.

Gedalyahu is appointed as Governor of the remaining people of Judah, but the bands of Judean fighters refuse to accept defeat at the hands of Babylon. They assassinate Gedalyahu, and the last remnants of Judah run to Egypt to escape the wrath of Babylon.

Nebuchadnezar besieges and destroys Jerusalem. The people of Israel are exiled to Babylon.

One king after another rebels against God and Nebuchadnezar exiles Yehoyachin and places Tzidkiyahu on the throne of Judah. Tzidkiyahu rebels as well and God has no more patience for Judah.

The Kings of Judah turn away from Josiah's reforms, and lead the people into worsening corruption, idol worship and violence. Through a series of poor political strategies they bring Judah closer and closer to disaster.

Josiah's attempt to bring the people back to God fails to hold, even after the most wonderful Passover celebration in history. He meets a tragic death due to his overconfidence.

Josiah thoroughly eradicates every vestige of idol worship from both Judah and Israel.

Josiah sends his delegation to Hulda, who confirms that indeed the destruction of the Temple is coming. But Josiah's humility does delay the coming destruction at least for the duration of his reign.

During renovations and repair of the Holy Temple, a Scroll of the Torah is found which sparks a revolution.

Amon follows in his father's footsteps, which leads to his assassination. the people restore the Davidic dynasty by executing the conspirators and placing the young Yoshiyahu (Josiah) on the throne of Judah.

Menasheh takes over the leadership of Judah after the death of Hezekiah, and he leads the people into the depths of depravity, murder and idol worship.

Hezekiah entertains a royal delegation from Babylon, and plants the seeds of Judah's ultimate defeat.

Hezekiah becomes ill and Isaiah teaches him an important lesson about God.

Hezekiah's prayer is accepted, Isaiah addresses Sannecherib in his prophecy and a great salvation occurs.

King Hezekiah requests help from Isaiah the prophet, who tells the people not to fear. However, salvation requires that the king himself be humble before God. Hezekiah responds by standing before God and in his prayer he defines the basic tenets of monotheism.

The siege of Jerusalem is in full force, as the Assyrian Army marches against Jerusalem. Rabshakeh, the Assyrian officer addresses the people of Jerusalem to convince them to abandon God and surrender, but the people of Jerusalem remain loyal to God and their king, Hezekiah.

King Hezekiah leads the people back to the worship of God, and rebels against Assyria.

Assyria repopulates the now destroyed Northern Kingdom with peoples from all over the empire. These people bring along their foreign religions and end up creating a confusing mix of belief in God while still clinging to their old practices.

The Northern kingdom of Israel comes to a tragic end.
