Fr Michael Eades of the Toronto Oratory
Lectio et Oratio
St Philip Neri in the 16th century would daily gather those in Rome who were desirous of seeking Christian perfection. He would read from a spiritual book and then discourse on the meaning of what was read. This podcast (and the nightly prayer group from which it springs) seeks to carry on St Philip’s method of helping people become holy, even saints, in their own homes.

What was the reaction of Mother's spiritual director to her disclosing what happened to her in Darjeeling? Ignore it. Fr Van Exem first tried to tell Mother Teresa not to think about what she had heard from Christ. He wanted to test her obedience. He wanted her to be silent and pray. She had many things to do in her current vocation. If this vision was really from God, Mother would be obedient.
Episode 20 -- Come Be My Light ch 3.4 -- The First Step 06.03.2023 9:11
What did Mother first do after her retreat? She went to see her spiritual director. She believed that obedience was the true path to divine blessing. She wanted the protection of the Church.
Episode 19 -- Come Be My Light ch 3.3 -- The Voice 04.03.2023 8:39
What did Mother hear on the train? She heard the voice of Christ as though He were speaking directly to her. He heard his voice as St Paul heard Him speak on the road to Emmaus. But this voice was of Christ on the Cross.

Episode 14 -- Come Be My Light ch 2.5 -- Private Vow in Daily Life 27.02.2023 9:11
How did Mother's secret vow change her daily life? She tried to do everything for Jesus out of love. Big or small, it did not matter. All things could be for Him, if done with love.
Episode 13 -- Come Be My Light ch 2.4 -- Blessedness of Submission 26.02.2023 6:53
Did Mother Teresa's vow of refusing Christ nothing make her gloomy? No! In fact, she was known to be full of fun and always cheerful. Her great good was Christ and his will. Doing his will gave her joy.
Episode 12 -- Come Be My Light ch 2.3 -- Not to Refuse Him Anything 25.02.2023 9:04
In what did this vow consist? In refusing Christ nothing. To always do what Christ wanted required Mother to be very attentive, always listening. Such attentiveness to Christ required a great silence in her soul.
Episode 11 -- Come Be My Light ch 2.2 -- Love for Love 24.02.2023 9:28
Why did Mother make this vow? Out of love. The more she knew of Christ's unconditional love, the more she looked for ways to give love back. Love for love!
