Proverbs 3: 5-6 Our lives are more hectic than ever. Throw in the typical stresses of life, be they relationship issues, health concerns, an unstable job situation, or financial stresses, and many of us find ourselves struggling to just hang on. God reminds us time and time again in His word that we are to come to Him with all of these things and just let go in complete trust in His plan.

Acts 2: 42-47 In the midst of the excitement of all that was fresh and new, the early Church recognized the power and importance of staying connected to where they came from. Prayer and worship can take new styles and forms, but these disciplines have been, are, and should always be what bind us together with God and one another.

Acts 2:42-47 We grab fast food and eat in our car. We sit alone for meals and scroll on our phones. We sit with others for meals and scroll on our phones. Sometimes we are so busy that we don't even stop to eat. But it doesn't have to be this way. What if we reclaimed meals as a holy time?

Acts 2:42-47 Th search for community, connection and meaning were areas where the early Church excelled. And yet many today are abandoning the Church to seek community in everything from brunch groups to CrossFit.  Today we explore what is behind this shift, the longing we all experience, and what God's design for true community looks like. 

Acts 2:42-47 The early Church devoted themselves to the apostles' teachings, which we can do through studying the Bible. Today we explore how to get started with one of the most important disciplines we can practice as individuals and as a church community.  

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 When your team is down late in the game, are you the kind of fan who stays to the end hoping for a hail mary? Or do you head to your car, resigned to a loss, hoping only to beat the traffic?

Luke 5:1-11   Key idea: The shores of the Sea of Galilee, a large lake in northern Israel, were the site of so many of Jesus' teachings, actions and relationships. From the calling of the disciples to an encounter with the risen Savior, the lakeside is a place of transformation. It is our vision to see Lakeside UMC be a similar place of transformation in our community.

1John 1:1-5 Key idea:  While seeking to provide answers that help us to understand the foundations of Christianity, the Church, and Lakeside UMC, we will discover that there is also power in our questions.  

Jeremiah 1:5 Key Idea:  Christians generally live out their faith from one of two starting points: identity or behavior. While they both may resemble each each other, they lead to drastically different results.

Luke 24:33-48 Key idea: Evangelism-telling other people about Jesus can be scary. We fear rejection, not knowing all the answers, crossing social boundaries, and more.  But maybe we are overthinking it. 

Mark 6: 45-52 Key idea : Being a called, commissioned, and trusted member of Jesus' team doesn't mean you have it all figured out. But our confusion, lack of faith, and even hard-heartedness doesn't mean Jesus gives up on us.   

Romans 15:13 

Mark 6:30-34, 53-56 Key Idea: in Jesus' time, crowds came running at the mere rumor that Jesus was near because they knew he would meet their needs. What would it take to recapture that today. 

Mark 6: 1-6 Key Idea: Our understanding of Jesus can hold us back from knowing the full Jesus and receiving all he has for us. 

Luke 9:51-62. Key idea: Life is full of change-planned and unplanned-and the one that often invites us into and guides us through change is Jesus.
