Humboldt County supervisors have been told that cuts affecting seniors will have broad impacts. 

After thunderstorms hit the North Coast on Monday, June 30th, multiple lightning-caused fires were discovered in the Six Rivers National Forest. With more lightning expected this evening under the red-flag-warning in effect until 11 p.m. tonight, firefighters ask residents to remain vigilant. Lisa Music reports.

Southern Humboldt has been without local veterinary service for 15 months. All this time, residents in the area have had to go to Willits or Fortuna to seek medical care for their animals. This is a part of a nation-wide pattern. All over the country, rural areas are seeing their vets quit or retire, unable to find replacements to take over their practices.

Business owners across Humboldt County are pessimistic about their prospects according to the results of a recent survey conducted by local business organizations.
