Christians die throughout sanctification. And Christians (like all humanity) must die physically. But thankfully, in the Christian economy, new life always follows death.

February 26, 2023 (Pastor Casey Shutt) - Based on John 19:1-16, this sermon considers the idols driving the actions of Pilate and the Jewish crowds. Pilate and the crowds are "beholding" the wrong things, for they like all of humanity must behold Christ, the Lamb of God.

February 19, 2022 (Pastor Casey Shutt) - In this dramatic scene described in John 18:28-40, Pilate operates out of fear, the crowds operate from anger, but neither Pilate nor the crowds operate from truth. In fact, they actually are happy to see truth (who stands before them) terminated. Still, the truth remains and governs even this situation; the truth of God's love for sinners.

February 12, 2023 (Pastor Casey Shutt) - This sermon based on John 18:13-27 considers Jesus's trial before Annas, especially how they compare to Peter's "trial" before the crowds. Together, these two trials highlight the insufficiency of the human heart compared to the ultimate sufficiency of Christ.
