In Luke 16 we hear two of the most extraordinary stories Jesus ever told, and they are both about money. Both of them show us what it looks like to handle our money wisely: by living in the present in light of the future.

In this well-known parable, Jesus uses a story about a father and two sons to challenge the way that we think about and approach God. This is not just a story about one son leaving and returning, but about two sons and how they relate to their father.

How do we disciple the next generation? Paul begins 2 Timothy by highlighting three things in particular: our own faith, our suffering, and communicating the gospel of grace.

What does a Christian home life look like? The qualifications for eldership which Paul gives in 1 Timothy 3 give us an excellent starting point, covering relationships, money, family life and more besides.

Paul describes the church as the household of God, a temple in the Lord Jesus, and a dwelling place for God by the Spirit. We are, in other words, a home for God.

The church is described as a family: a home for people. Practically, this has a number of implications for the way the church functions as a large family—and for the way the family functions as a small church.
