Kevin Kietzman Has Issues

One huge play from Patrick Mahomes to Tyreek Hill lit Arrowhead on fire in the fourth quarter and in the process... ramped up a KC defense that had been bad all day.    It looked bleak most of the day, but with Arrowhead rocking, the Browns bumbled their way to three second half turnovers and the Chiefs win it 33-29.

Our full interview with Kevin Harlan on the NFL season, the future of tv sports and more is up for Patrons Only. On this episode, we play a clip of Kevin's thoughts on the Chiefs and Browns Sunday.    Also, Spencer Kietzman is back with his weekend previews and his friend Riley Gates from 24/7 Sports joins him to talk KU, K-State, Mizzou, the NFL and Big 12 Expansion.

The opening night in the NFL almost makes you feel sorry for other sports as the Bucs/Cowboys game was just a thrill a minute.  Even though Tampa Bay seemingly will continue to get all the calls, this sport is so much fun and so American it's not surprising the left loves to attack it.    The Chiefs and Browns should be just as much fun and if that's true, how can the computer say the Chiefs hav...

Lee Sterling of www.paramountsports.com has a first ever, 50 unit selection in week one of the NFL and handicaps a slew of games for us including the Chiefs-Browns, Tigers-Wildcats and Cyclones-Hawkeyes.    I also share my thoughts on what Sunday looks and feels like at Arrowhead and more on the matchup.

It has always looked easy to be a fan of the best team with the best player.  So why do I have such a hard time believing it's just going to be easy for Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs?  He's undefeated in September, undefeated against Cleveland and I'm afraid of this game.  We'll break it down for you.    The Royals had an epic fail in the 8th inning against the Orioles blowing a 5-0 lead.  By...

Just like so many things in life, we are learning to accept Covid and are moving on.  Of course, some industries are relying on millions of people to stay hooked on fear and they are losing.  Americans, by their actions, are clearly saying they are done with Covid.    It's so great being a Chiefs fan these days as there is never, ever any quarterback drama.  But it's a normal part of the game f...

It was an epic four day weekend of college football fun as KU, KSU and MU all win.  The Cats were the big surprise with their new look defense totally shutting down Stanford but there are plenty of other story lines.  Clemson lost and one coach actually lost his job after one game.  We've got it all.    The Chiefs got Monday off because they have a great kicker.  This is the kind of story that...

Kevin Harlan hates parking garages.  Confused?  Don't be.  We have a clip from our NFL Preview episode for patrons at www.kkhasissues.com that will have you rolling on the floor.  You're going to love this and agree with him.    And our conversation is with a Kansas City financial planner that switched from investing for others to teaching others how to find their path to financial well bein...

The Big 12 looks like it's together and looks like it has a good plan to add four schools.  But you can still see the cracks if you look close enough.  This crack is more like a fault line.  How in the world is Dr. Doug Girod one of two chancellors on the expansion committee when he's presided over the disaster that is KU Athletics?    There's personal problems, there's technical problems, t...

Lee Sterling of www.paramountsports.com is a national handicap champion and on air partner of mine for 20 years.  This is an opening week, college football bonus from Lee as he discusses a few Big 12 games against the spread.

Watching Joe Biden stumble around, actually unfit for office, proves that while America is great... there is a real weakness in a democracy.    The name Black Bob is officially ok to use as the Kansas City Star points out it was the name of the man who led the Shawnee "Indians" in the Olathe area.  Wait, I thought "Indian" had been cancelled by the Star?  And Black Bob is ok?  So hard to keep s...

College Football week one is here and Stan Weber previews the Wildcats and Stanford battling at Jerry World in Dallas.  The Lance Liepold era begins at KU against South Dakota while Eliah Drinkwitz has his first non conference game at Mizzou.    Scott Frost is melting on the hot seat at messy Nebraska and #3 Clemson faces #5 Georgia this week.  It's game week on KKHI.

It's time to become a fan of Urban Meyer as he refreshingly speaks his mind.  The latest?  Meyer says of course the Covid vax is a factor in whether to keep a player or not, it's the NFL's silly rules.  Now the NFLPA is investigating the Jacksonville coach.    The Chiefs cuts didn't turn a lot of heads, but they did do something with a player they've never done before.    A pair of baseball gre...

Joe Biden is giving a big speech now that we are out of Afghanistan where he's going to try to convince you that the greater good of getting out justifies the disaster we just witnessed the past two weeks.  Just remember, the most important call in their playbook is controlling the message.  And that's about to start.    These are the same people that have controlled our Covid policy for two ye...

It's so sad to lose service members the way America did last week and at the same time, it's heartwarming to see how everyday folks remember them.  So many great tributes all over the land this past weekend reminds us that most Americans are truly great people.    Now politics, well, that's a different bird.  Mayor Q as a councilman and candidate railed against the city doing deals behind close...

With all the bad news and chaos in the world since the start of the pandemic, I was reminded by a listener named Jim Smiley that there is greatness in our communities if we just take the time to see it.   Jim sent me a video of incredible young kids that benefit from the great work at www.ballardcenter.org in Lawrence and put me in touch with Becky Price, the CEO.  She's carrying on a nearly 60...

It was the worst day for America since 9/11 and it leaves us with a choice to make.  Do we care?  Do we want to remain the greatest country on earth or do we want to leave it all  behind for things that entertain us and make us feel good?

The Chiefs may be the best team in football, but you wouldn't know it by the way they've approached the preseason.  The starters are center stage again Friday night as KC hosts Minnesota.    The Royals bullpen wastes a Whit Merrifield grand slam but lost in the shuffle is Salvy homer number 34.  This is getting really exciting as he closes in on baseball history.  We update his chances.    The...

The college football season starts with a small slate of games this weekend headlined by Nebraska/Illinois.  It's a perfect time to discuss all things college football with Stan Weber.    On our 2021 CFB preview we offer the latest on realignment, conference alliances and the future of the game.  Plus, we take a deep dive into MU, KU and KSU in a rare year all the fans of these teams like their...

Most times, polling on a sitting politician is boring and only moves a little and doesn't mean anything.    Joe Biden wishes that was happening to him, but it's not.  Shocking poll numbers reflect Americans do pay attention and they aren't stupid.  At least, after they vote.    A group of GOP reps has sent a letter to Dr. Fauci and he has until Monday to respond why he funded the abuse and kill...

For any seasoned reporter, you know when you've touched a nerve.  Jen Psaki's reaction to the word "stranded" was so heavy handed and over the top, here's what we know.  Americans are stranded and the Biden admin doesn't know what to do about it.    This mess in Afghanistan is going to take quite some time and it's obvious the Dems aren't going to be able to pass their $3.5 trillion wish list....

If we are going to get excited about certain players looking good in the preseason, it seems fair to mention what looks wrong.  And right now, Patrick Mahomes looks rusty.  Hey, some teams aren't even playing their starting qb until the regular season, but if Mahomes is going to play, I'd like it to look like it matters.    Bucs quarterback Tom Brady has done an in depth interview talking about...

It's the parent speech of the year and it happened in Colorado Springs.  A dad, in front of the school board, ends all debate over whether Critical Race Theory should be taught in schools.  You have to hear this.    The Wall Street Journal reports a confidential memo was sent to the Biden administration in July from our embassy,  warning that Kabul would fall before August 31.  So why did the S...

Patrick Mahomes and the starters are expected to play a full half Friday night in Arizona.  We break down what we're looking for in this game and discuss how close the Chiefs are to signing safety Tyrann Mathieu to a new contract.    The Royals get a dramatic walkoff win by throw out at home plate and make it three  in a row against the Astros.  Are the Royals a bad team or an underachieving av...

An NCAA spokesperson says the investigation into KU basketball and football is "finished or very close" after dragging out for years.  The NCAA has now changed the rules for the outside investigating groups to speed up the process going forward.  The reason, the outside group has authority to find additional violations and that takes time.  And apparently that's what they've been trying to do t...
