God is a covenant God. He relates to people on the basis of covenant. The Greek word for covenant is diatithemi = dia: between; tithemi: to set or place. A covenant is something placed between 2 parties to establish a relationship. So what has God placed between Him and us as the basis of our relationship?

Three times Paul referred to the gospel as 'my gospel'. Did he preach a different gospel to Jesus and the Apostles?

In the oldest book of the Bible we find the question that is asked in every age, 'If a man dies, shall he live again?' Jesus responds to this with the words, 'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live' (John 11:25 )

Jesus said that His sheep 'And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are one”’ (John 10:28 -30). To argue against eternal security is to say the Jesus lied.

Jesus warned us that there would be thieves, robbers, hirelings and strangers who would harm God's sheep. But He is the Good Shepherd who not only protects the flock but lays down His life for the sheep.

'Do you believe in the Son of God?' is the most important question everyone has to answer.

Jesus' healing of the man born blind was a sign revealing His glory in our salvation. But the way He responded to this man's need was completely different to that of the disciples, the neighbours, his parents and the Pharisees. The way others treat you is not so important as the way Jesus treats you.

Our position is that we are 'in Christ'. Through faith, we are in the Spirit, free from the law. With the help of the Holy Spirit, holiness is the outworking of our righteousness in Christ.

The gifts are manifestations, i.e. a showing forth, making visible or making known, various aspects of the love and power of God. Nine gifts are listed which can be divided into three groups of three.

God lets us see our inability so we might depend on His ability. Don't do anything until you are baptized in the Spirit. Jesus was born of the Spirit, but at the age of 30 the Holy Spirit came upon Him. Then He began His ministry.

There are times when we don't know what to pray for. Christians are not immune from suffering, but we don't know what is best for us - deliverance or grace. The Holy Spirit helps us, teaches us and gives us heaven's perspective.

Mary had plans and dreams for her life. Then God stepped in with His plans that were far greater - plans that could only be possible through the Holy Spirit. Often, when the Holy Spirit does something new, there must be a transitioning out of the old.

Jesus said, '...you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.' So how do we get to know this truth? Today we look at the Holy Spirit’s role in helping us understand God’s word. 

Learning to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit is how we develop a relationship with Him. We will only do this by living as sons. We differentiate between His voice and others through experience

When Jesus left He promised to send the Holy Spirit who is the third person of the God we serve. Paul teaches that God, through His love for us, intends for us to enjoy fellowship with the Holy Spirit who lives inside us.

Jesus referred to Satan as a liar and a murderer. The two are linked. With 'the lie' Satan killed the human race. But Jesus is the truth who sets us free from Satan's deception and gives us eternal life through faith in Him.

Jesus is the Light of the world. He is the light of our conscience, the light that reveals our sin but also the light of our salvation. The gospel is a call to come into the light of life which is Christ.

The woman caught in adultery and brought to Jesus was a trap intended to expose how His message of love compromised the justice of God's law. The woman's dilemma is ours also - until Jesus becomes our advocate.

The living water Jesus offered the woman at the well and those in the temple court at the Feast of Tabernacles is the only thing that satisfy our inner thirst.

Like Jesus, our lives are not governed by circumstances, fate or Satan’s plans. Our times are in God’s hands and in this we are able to rest.

Chapter 5 records how Jesus was rejected in Judea. In chapter 6 we see He was rejected in Galilee also. This was a turning point in His ministry. From immense popularity the tide now turns and there is increasing opposition and hostility. But Jesus was not affected by public opinion because He was focused on doing His father's will.

When Jesus said, 'I am the Bread of Life' He presented Himself to us as the answer to our deepest need. Without Him we may exist, but not live. Bread can give us physical nourishment, but Jesus gives life.

Paul says that God has put all things under the feet of Jesus. The practical implications of this are amazing for our daily lives as believers.
