Kävelijä / The Walker 20.10.2018 11:09
It started some 100 000 years ago, somewhere in the great plains of Tanzania.... Lets just put the lyrics here: Voiko aamun valo vielä kannatella toivoa nousta tuuli tasangolta ilman pelon tuoksua voiko käsi joka käskee vielä joskus silittää kylvää kuoleman sijasta vielä kerran elämää Tansanian tasangolta matkamme alkoi epätodennäköisin mitä ollut ikinä ei pysäyttänyt matkaa meri, ikimetsä, aavikk...
The God Delusion 24.08.2018 5:04
Basically, this song is just another oh-so-serious sermon in the form of guitar rock which I tried to lighten up with some musical tricks here and there. Human nature is the one of deifying, to worship, to adore, to glorify. If it's not one of the millions of gods, it's ism, football, money, whatever. People tend to rationalize all their inner habits. Denying God is not unbelieving if the habit of...
Jalokivi 01.08.2018 7:39
Another attempt of making a simple pop song (almost) without guitars. Thus being, there are only less than two minutes of useless drifting guitar interlude played by my old Gibson The Paul, with strings so high up that it makes it difficult to play at all. Why? Because it's there.
Palatsien palatsi 04.07.2018 7:37
After almost 2 years of hiatus, a new song. Needed to take a break of this songwriting habit for it had become merely a burden, not a relief. I also tried to find some new angles to my guitar playing and writing. I did not find anything, learn anything. So, there's nothing new here This is just me.
Spring at the Lowlands 10.06.2017 7:20
Deteriorated and destroyed nature: forests and mires turned into fields extending endlessly in the flat landscape, poaching, uncommunacative people... the Ostrobothnian region, my home. I don't know if the farmers here believe in the future or not but it certainly seems like not: The life is all about sticking in the past to secure the present at the cost of the future. Musically: I just like the...
Nature Is The Mirror Of A Man - Petoviha 28.04.2017 5:18
One's fear of wilderness equals the fear of his/her own subconsciousness. What a man finds in the nature, what he/she loves, hates, fears, tries to tame or worship is the very nature of the man itself, deep state of mind, the one which has developed by and with the nature in the course of the evolution.
Inherit The Wind - Tuuleen kylväjät 12.03.2017 8:30
Free will is the wrath of humankind leading us fighting against entropy, against evolution. Chaos is the true nature of life and the greatest fear of this "Free will", which basically is just a slavedriver inside of every man. Typical topic of a pop hit, for sure.
Godwana 16.02.2017 7:32
A song about dementia, as told by the person who's experiencing the disintegration of one's own past, present and future. Also a love story. "The things I will forget shall I forgive". Not a fiction at all. The deepest and most personal song I've ever made, albeit I am not the storyteller in those lyrics. She's my mother. Too bad I could not make it musically. May well be my weakest moment as a so...
Valon vaakuna - Shield Of Light 29.12.2016 5:30
Most of my songs are based on the most typical pop chord progressions. The one heavily used by myself is the 'a - F - C - G'. But I have never used the dull F - G - a -progression in chorus, until now. (I have always loved the 80's heavy metal acts like the mighty Judas Priest). There's no other musical goals in this song. Lyrically it's just my typical subject: mocking the two-faced "positive" pe...
Chorus 29.11.2016 4:54
Basically this track describes the destructive, all-consuming and -conquering nature of the western civilisation which will not reach its end until the very end of the the fossil energy supplies and breaking point of the biosphere's carrying capacity. The stock markets will be thriving even on the last days of apocalypse and the last 0,1 % of world elite will die in utter abundance while the other...
Sielunmessu / A Requiem For Myself 06.11.2016 22:06
First song considering primarily myself. This song is not meant to be listenable at first hand but merely just honest - musically and lyrically: overblown, extremes really far from one another, too slow, too fast, too long, too raw and too cheesy. Deep shadows & brilliant highlights (like this truly great Finnish band, HIM, had it written in the sleeve of their 3rd record); how I see my years unde...
Ero 18.09.2016 3:53
My attempt to make just short and simple rock song. For some reason, these kind of songs have always been difficult for me to accomplish. This time I even managed to cut the guitar-solo-kind-of-thing in under 20 seconds. The lyrics are another view into the distorted relationship...sort of. I had an extra motivation to do this, because next one will be totally opposite. Opposite of everything I've...
Olla 08.09.2016 7:17
Another one dealing with middle age crisis & fatherhood & fragile mind trying to find peace. The name, Olla = To be. I would've liked to use title "We're here because we're here" but in the case someone of my few listeners is familiar with Anathema, I just humourlessly want to avoid giving an impression of thinking my songs to be somehow on par with them. I'm just...me and Anathema is the vast sky...
Ja sinä vastasit taivaan korkeuksista 21.08.2016 6:11
"There never was much hope. Just a fool's hope..." To hang on to a fool's hope and survive. Suddenly being aware that I'm still alive and well, after twenty years of ravishing grimness of my life reaching it's end in the next day, month, year...and especially of what happened after that realization.
The Scenery 27.07.2016 12:51
My personal view of the relationship of mankind and the nature. Relationship of destruction, humiliation, exploitation - and ephemeral nature of that all. Musically...I just wonder, again, why the heck am I doing these monuments. They can be really difficult to listen to - even being properly recorded and mixed, which is not the case with my music (I'm fully aware of the ambivalent nature of my mu...
The Firebearer 11.06.2016 8:47
The references of this particular song? - Cheese. Yö. Joutsenlaulu. Me, being father of 6 years old boy, telling some sentimental, pathetic words of wisdom wishdom, fishdom. The purpose was good, though. I had a working title for the song: "While my guitar no-so-gently weeps" referring particularly to the amazing 2007's Rock Hall induction ceremony performance by Prince & co.
Odotan?! - i'll...Wait? 28.05.2016 3:14
An attempt to make "compact, simple rock song". Just two chord progressions in time of 3:14! Only for you, my friend! Just self-examination of typical anxious Finnish man. Nothing too special.
The Wanderer, Conqueror 17.05.2016 6:34
"Keep your beloved ones close for your enemy is already closer..."
Kiitotien päässä (on taivaassa reikä) - At The End Of The Runway 28.04.2016 6:24
Fundamentalism - be it the extremist branch of Islam or Christianity, or the real fundamental religion of our time, The Market Totalitarialism of The Disaster Capitalism - is basically consequence of human psyche, which is speeding up. And like it's sung in a certain Finnish song (of a totally different topic), "there is a hole in the sky at the end of the runway". But is there one and where will...
Kaunisharju 09.04.2016 6:01
Of giving in & rising up & settling down. Including musical citations to Kent, the best pop group of our time (in the form of bass line somewhere in the middle of the song) and to the late Sentenced, the grand masters of Finnish melancholy, ahistus ouluensis (the final section).
Bipolarity 26.03.2016 5:07
It has been said that man found God when he became aware of his own thoughts, thus being able (and forced) to listen "the inner voice" of himself, but not realizing that the voice he was hearing is not some external subject...
Vaietun puhe - The Nameless And The Fear 01.03.2016 6:02
St Anger.
Jeesuksen opetus - The Education Of Jesus Christ 13.02.2016 5:11
How to stand against superior power. I'm not religious person at all. But there is a great lesson of courageous, resistance and surpassing in those biblical lores concerning Jesus.
Rautahaarniska - The Armor 27.01.2016 3:45
The tragic silence of a Finnish man
Etäisyys - The Distance 14.12.2015 5:22
