Journey Through Scripture

Send us Fan Mail Today we see Jeremiah telling Judah that they will be in Babylonian captivity for 70 years. After that, God will punish Babylon for their guilt as well. Finally, Judah is about to actually experience God's punishment for their continual disobedience and rebellion.

Send us Fan Mail Today Habakkuk, another prophet, asks God how a wicked nation can be used to punish God's own people. God tells him to just trust and wait for God to work out His plan in His way in His time.

Send us Fan Mail Today Jeremiah prophesies judgement on Judah's enemies, but reassures Judah that they will not be completely destroyed along with them.

Send us Fan Mail Today we see Josiah die in battle and his sons (who did evil in the eyes of the Lord) take over. The first  one dies in captivity and the second one is a puppet king for the Pharaoh of Egypt. Jeremiah is almost killed but is released while another prophet (who is saying the same things against Jerusalem) is killed for his negative prophesy.

Send us Fan Mail Today we see some sweet relief from the message of death and destruction in store for God's people. Young King Josiah hears the ancient book of the law from Moses, cleanses the land of all the filthy idolatry and celebrates the Passover as God intended. As a reward for Josiah's faith, God will hold off His punishment until after Josiah dies.

Send us Fan Mail Today Jeremiah becomes angry about being ridiculed, beaten and imprisoned overnight. After venting his anger, however, he praises God for His love and protection for those who have faith in Him. We also see a beautiful reminder that God can change His plan for us if we somehow ruin the first plan - like a potter changing the type of pot when the first one is misshapen.

Send us Fan Mail Today Jeremiah struggles a bit with this calling as no one seems to be listening. God reassures him that he will be protected and blessed as long as he continues to preach what God tells him.

Send us Fan Mail Today Jeremiah gives Judah the bad news that God has had it and will not listen to their cries for mercy. They just keep rejecting Him. He can "no longer show compassion".

Send us Fan Mail Today Jeremiah is nearly killed and has a bone to pick with God about why wicked people seem to flourish. God puts him back in his place and reminds him that He still loves His people and will rescue them after their punishment. The enemies of His children will be finally destroyed.

Send us Fan Mail Today We see Jeremiah explaining why Judah has to be punished for their deceitful wicked ways. I also share some of my personal background as it relates to living a secret life of deceit and how destructive it is. ( I love how God uses HIs ancient Word to speak into our lives today!)

Send us Fan Mail Today we see Jeremiah reminding Judah that they brought their punishment upon themselves. He reminds them of how God has taken care of them, and they openly rejected Him.

Send us Fan Mail Today we see Israel seemingly beginning to repent, but Judah is not quite ready. God reveals His heart of love and anguish at the need to punish the wickedness of His people.

Send us Fan Mail Today we meet the prophet Jeremiah. He reiterates what other prophets have said...Judah has been wicked and will be punished unless they repent. Judah responds like a child who thinks they can lie to God and He won't know what they've done.

Send us Fan Mail Today we see the prophet Zephaniah reminding Judah of the coming judgement on their enemies as well as themselves. He also points out that the righteous remnant will be saved and gives them a chance to repent. Meanwhile, young King Josiah is cleaning Judah of the paganism and idol worship.

Send us Fan Mail Today the prophet Nahum tells Judah of the destruction of their enemy, Nineveh. Judah itself will be restored and healed.

Send us Fan Mail Today we see a new king come to power in Judah. King Josiah is only 8 years old, but he turns to the Lord with all his heart, soul and strength!

Send us Fan Mail Today we conclude the book of Isaiah with some beautiful passages about the coming age of peace and blessing as well as a final warning to those who choose to defy God.

Send us Fan Mail Today Isaiah tells Israel of the glorious day when God will restore His people to blessing and salvation.

Send us Fan Mail Today Isaiah answers the age-old question of why the good and innocent often die young, He also addresses the issue of fasting and how to be truly blessed by God.

Send us Fan Mail Today Isaiah delivers God's beautiful words of love, protection and redemption...not only for the Jews, but also for the Gentile.

Send us Fan Mail Today Isaiah prophesies the coming Messiah, Jesus' death and resurrection. (Some of the most beautiful poetic words in this book of Isaiah.)

Send us Fan Mail Today Isaiah comforts Israel with words of encouragement. They don't have to fight the fierce warriors who come against them....God Himself will contend with them, and they won't even believe God's blessing afterward.

Send us Fan Mail Today we see Isaiah reassuring Israel that one day they will be rescued and their enemies will be defeated. God reminds them to trust in Him alone.

Send us Fan Mail Today we see Isaiah reminding Israel that God is the only true God, and He will accomplish His will in any way He chooses.

Send us Fan Mail Today we see Isaiah comforting the Israelites with God's promises to be with them through their trials. He also foreshadows the coming Messiah and His salvation for the Gentiles as well as the Jews.
