Tendo Miembe Namata is the feminist founder of Embibo Gender Initiative  in rural Uganda, designed to reduce gender based violence and improve  the status of rural girls and women. She has a Masters in gender  studies.

13 women and men approaching age 80 share what they've learned through the decades, such as don't marry for beauty and sex and be open to new experiences and people. They all graduated from high school in Los Angeles and only three moved out of state. Their childhoods were safe and adults didn't need to do as much supervision as now, and most of their mothers were homemakers.
