The Austin Film Festival returns this year October 21st through the 28th and they’re looking for volunteers to help with this year’s festiva.  Sage Kosiorek, AFF OM, joins Inside Austin to talk about what we can expect at this year’s festival, why you’ll want to attend and the networking opportunities for those involved.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Kenya Johnson from BCRC joins Inside Austin to talk about her breast cancer journey, how BCRC helped her and what it can do for you and your loved ones.  We talk about the upcoming Art Bra event and how Central Texas can help the Breast Cancer Resource Center with the mission of making sure that no one faces breast cancer alone.

Texas Book Festival Executive Director Lois Kim joins Inside Austin to talk about what's new and exciting at this year's event.  We talk about online events, in person events and the Lit Crawl.  Lois also talks about the organization's other endeavors apart from The Texas Book Festival.

Paula and Campbell join Inside Austin to share the life lessons girls can learn with Girl Scouts Central Texas.  We talk about the upcoming cookie season, how Girl Scouts are getting outdoors and the different ways girls can participate in Girl Scouts.

Jason Whaley with Salvation Army Austin talks aobut giving the gift of Christmas with the Angel Tree Program. We talk about how to sign up or refer a family and how Ausitn and Central Texas can help children here in ATX that wouldn't otherwise have a Christmas.

David Pratt, with Ausitn Symphony Orchestra, joins Inside Austin for a preview of the upcoming season. David talks about getting back out to enjoy live music in Ausitn and the ways that Austin reminds him of his home in Australia.

The Arc of the Capital Area is hosting their Art Celebration at Haute Spot in Cedar Park coming up at noon on Sunday, November 7th.  Ann Marie Sanders joins Inside Austin in studio to talk about the event as well as the Arc’s mission and vision for Central Texas.

ACL Fest is just a few weeks away and the Austin parks foundation is looking for volunteers to help out.  Allison Watkins from Austin Parks Foundation joins Inside Austin to talk about ACL Fest, the new Zilker Eagle  and the Austin Parks Foundation's role imporoving Austin's parks.

Ballet Austin returns to the stage for their 2021/2022 season with Joy, 3 Happy Dances by Stephen Mills.  The show runs September 24th - 26th at The Long Center and Stephen Mills joins Inside Austin to talk about the first show of the season, the season lost to the pandemic and what ATX can expect for the rest of the Ballet Austin season.

As Louisiana continues its recovery from Hurricane Ida, the Austin Humane Society still needs your help with their Hurricane Ida response.  Katie Kennedy with Austin Humane Society joins Inside Austin to talk about Ida, adoption and the upcoming Rags to Wags fundraising event at The Fairmont Austin.

Jo Kathryn Quinn, Caritas of Austin Executive Director, talks about the history of the organization, the housing options offered and other wrap-around programs helping people transition to permanent housing.  We also talk about the Caritas of Austin, volunteer opportunities and other ways ATX can help with the mission.

Jayne Whisnant, Area Director fo American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, joins Inside Austin to talk about mental health, identifying warning signs and what to do when warning signs are seen.  We also talk about AFSP resources available for college students and others at risk.

Allen Schroeder, the founder of Save the Food, talks about diverting food away from landfills and to people in Austin. We talk about the inspiration and history of Save the Food, how he got grocery stores to participate and what Save the Food needs to continue to succeed and grow.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Central Texas CEO, Brent Fields, talks about the history of the organization and how it’s been changing lives in ATX for more than 50 years.  We talk about what it takes to be a “big'', what other help BBBS needs and some of the programs that make the organization successful.  Brent also talks about how the kids and volunteers benefit from BBBS. 

Pease Park Conservancy CEO Heath Riddles-Sanchez joins Inside Austin to talk about the new $10 Million improvements just unveiled in the south end of the park.  We also talk about the upcoming Squirrel Fest to celebrate the new improvements and we talk about the relationship between The Conservancy and the City of Austin.

Artistic Director, Bears Rebecca Fonte talks about this year's Prism Film Festival in Austin August 26th through September 6th.  We talk about the early days of the festival at The Dobe Theater, the growth of the community and festival, this year's events and films and how Austin can take part and help with the mission.     

Chelsea Hardee from the Flatwater Foundation and Dr. David Tremblay from Mann Eye Institute join Inside Austin to talk about the 21 mile fundraising paddle trip from dam to dam on Lake Austin on September 13, 2021. We also talk about how the Flatwater Foundation began here in Austin and continues to help cancer survivors and their families in Central Texas.
