Tugboat Press publisher , Greg Means, joined me to talk about his new book, a collaboration with MK Reed and Joe Flood, The Cute Girl Network . We also cover Papercutter the great anthology that Greg edited/published. Greg also did Clutch series of mini comics for quite some time in the 2000’s under the name Clutch McBastard which ran for 25 issues.

I have been a big fan of Hellen Jo ‘s work since first coming across her amazing Jin and Jam comic that Sparkplug published. Since then, her work has focused producing paintings that capture a variety of subjects in a really compelling way. Ryan Cecil Smith joined me to talk about his new book from Koyama Press, SF 3 . Ryan’s SF work has really list a creative fire under a lot of cartoonists. His SF Supplemental File 2 A,B and C are high points in the current wave of Risograph printed comics. Well worth checking out.

Cartoonist Jess Johnson, joined me talk about their comic work ranging from recent work, Sad Brat, Bad Star  and Auto da Fe that cover their time identified as a transgender woman. Previously, Jess had published Nurture the Devil through Fantagraphics in the 90s and plethora of work in various anthologies and mini-comics under the name Jeff Johnson.

Shannon O’Leary and Joan Reilly joined me to chat about their anthology, The Big Feminist But . It’s an excellent collection of wide ranging cartoonists on difference facets of modern feminism.

Sam Henderson has been making his Magic Whistle comics for the last 20 years. The latest issue, number 13 will be out this fall by the recently revitalized Alternative Comics . Sam has also been doing short animations of his work you can watch on youtube.

New York located painter, Mu Pan , joined me to chat about his art, history and his time spent as a member of Meat Haus .
