The added charge for bias crimes would carry a penalty of $1,500 or 30 days in jail, which is the harshest punishment a city can impart. A 19-year-old accused of robbing a teen before an exchange of gunfire resulted in a stray bullet hitting a child in a nearby West Fargo home now faces federal charges. The U.S. Attorney's Office in Fargo filed its case last month against CJ Jesse James Carruthers, of Fargo. The North Dakota Department of Health on Thursday, June 24, announced it detected the state's first case of the Delta variant, which is believed to be more contagious than any other coronavirus strain. The case occurred in an adult who was not hospitalized, the health department said in a news release. Officials did not say where the case was discovered.

Reyna Bergstrom was crowned with the title Saturday, June 19, by the Miss North Dakota Scholarship Organization in Williston. Bergstrom graduated from Oak Grove Lutheran High School in 2014, and went on to study at Concordia, where she graduated in 2018. She now works at content specialist for the college's marketing team.

Leading the recall charge is Michael Coachman, an ultra-conservative former gubernatorial candidate who lost to Burgum in the Republican primary last year by an 80-point margin. Burgum and Sanford went on to beat Democratic-NPL nominees Shelley Lenz and Ben Vig by a 40-point margin in November.
