Say “Yes” to the Lord Christmas really is a season of saying “yes” to things! We say yes to the lists our children provide us, to the requests for charitable giving flooding our mailboxes, to the invitations from work colleagues and friends. But this Christmas I wonder if we’re as quick to say “yes” to Jesus as we are everything else?

Lesson 2 1 Thessalonians 2:17-4:12. Paul explains that following Jesus as King produces such counter-cultural way of life that conflict with our neighbors over our beliefs is sure to arise. However, our response to their hostility should always be that of love, grace and generosity motivated by the hope we have in Christ.

Lesson 1 Acts 17:1-13 and 1 Thessalonians 1:1-2:16. Paul focuses on how we can live for Christ in times of suffering and persecution and his words are as relevant to us as they were to the church in Thessalonica.

Lesson 4 Colossians 4:2-18 and Philemon 1:1-22. Paul concludes his letter to those in Colossae by mentioning a run-away slave called Onesimus, with whom Paul had shared the Gospel while in prison. The story of Onesimus and his master Philemon provides us with a fascinating illustration of how dramatically the love and grace of God is to change our own lives and relationships.

Lesson 3 In Colossians 3:1-4:1. Paul urges believers to let go of the traits of our past lives and he speaks of the new life in Christ that we are to pick up! Our love for Jesus is to not only change us, it is also to transform our closest relationships!

His whole life was committed to serving Christ in the places that God put him and to seeing believers grow in their faith whether he'd met them or not. He knew that his witness to others mattered for eternity and ours does too!

Lesson 6 Galatians 6:1-18. Paul encouraged his readers not to grow weary as they followed Christ for if they persevered, he knew that they would eventually be rewarded. As Christians we are to stand for Jesus irrespective of the culture around us and no matter what the personal cost.

Lesson 5 Galatians 4:31-5:26. Because of our freedom in Christ we are able to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit. Describing what our new life in Christ will look like, Paul urges us to purposefully follow the Spirit — to keep in step with Him, as He leads us in our walk with God!

Lesson 4 Galatians 4:1-31. Paul was concerned the Christians of Galatia not listen to false teaching that was prevalent at the time. He wanted them to understand that those who claim Christ as their Lord cannot live as they please, however we must be careful of legalism! As those transformed by God’s grace, we walk in obedience to God’s will because we love Him, not because we fear His disapproval...

Lesson 3 Galatians 3:1-29. Whether we are Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male or female, we all need Christ Jesus. Paul urged his friends to never abandon the truth that when we belong to Christ, we become one of Abraham’s descendants, for Abraham is the father of all who believe!

Lesson 2 Galatians 2:1-21. Christ gave His life on the cross so that each one of us could be reconciled to God, brought into His family, and given a new life we did not know before. Paul had suffered much since he had begun to follow Christ, but he knew he could never compromise the message God had given him!

Lesson 1 Galatians 1:1-24. Paul wanted his Galatian readers to understand that there is only one way for mankind to be saved. It was the Lord Jesus Christ who had called Paul to be a minister of the Gospel, and he had been willing to take that message into even the hardest of places.
