We mustn't allow pride to enter our hearts. Even if we are the best follower of Christ we must be certain that our accomplishments are given to Him. Pastor JD warns us that pride in ourselves will ultimately lead towards cruelty towards others, and a disregard for Jesus's grace. Approach all successes with a heart of humility and thanksgiving.

Despite the horrible things which God allowed Job to go through, Job remained consistent in only longing for he and God to be on good terms. Jobs friends had an incorrect theology that good things happen to good people and bad things happen to bad people. Pastor JD tells us that because of their incorrect theology they were incapable to show grace to Job. They had to believe that he had done something wrong, or accept that they too could receive hardship without reason.

It's important for us to understand that we will never be able to grasp the ways of God. He functions on a timeline we cannot realize with a strategy which we will never be able to fathom. Job was wrong in thinking that God could possibly allow bad things to happen to him as a punishment for his past. In fact, the suffering he went through was because God knew he was strong enough to go through it. Pastor JD explains to us the great need to grasp this lesson. Jobs friends said his suffering was due to secret sins. They believed God would only punish someone so drastically if they truly deserved it. Pastor JD helps us understand the importance of not presuming to know Gods intentions. God chose Job because He was confident in Jobs ability to remain faithful. For Job everything went extremely bad extremely quick. His joyous and peaceful life instantly turned into great suffering, yet he did not lose hope in God. Pastor JD encourages us to keep our eyes on the Lord even in the worst of times. With Jesus we can get through anything and will ultimately find the most holy of ending. An eternity with Him.

Jobs wife told him to “curse God and die”. Pastor JD teaches us, that though this was in fact a plea from a loving wife trying to end her husbands suffering, it was also sinful. Those of us in wedlock must be certain to place God first always. If we don't, we risk asking the wrong thing of our spouses even though it was done with the best of intentions.

No matter how hard a trial we go through in life may be, we can rest assured that it is a trial which God has allowed. Job’s response to immense loss is one of humility and worship, as we’ll learn from Pastor JD today. Job understood that all he had, including his own life, was a gift from God, and we would do well to do the same.
