Amanda, a graphic designer from OH, invited Melissa, a NY stay-at-home mom on her podcast. Melissa, who has been hunkered down for decades after a cool but soul-crushing brush with fame on MTV’s Real World New Orleans, didn’t really do this sort of thing but Amanda seemed nice. They recorded twice due to technical difficulties, but ended up chatting for hours. Who the fuck talks on the actual phone? They do! Two strangers getting to know each other the old-fashioned way. Get to know Melissa all over again as she gets to know Amanda for the first time. Bonus! One’s white and one ain’t.

Listen to This: Reality Life with Kate Casey (feat. Melissa Beck) 09.10.2020

Melissa here. I was a guest on Reality Life With Kate Casey right after Imperfect Strangers had just started. Kate Casey is sometimes known as the Diane Sawyer of interviewing former reality stars in that she digs, gently, a little deeper to understand the true and r...

Float Pod 18.09.2020

Must Be Two Strangers 11.09.2020

On this episode our strangers are recording at 7 am which has both of them thinking that maybe they’re kinda not strangers anymore. Could this be? Only friends would talk to each other on the phone at this hour. And certainly, only real friends would talk, before the sun comes up, about a variety of subjects ranging from bonding with preteens, shaving, African American Vernacular English (AAVE) an...

Hugs and Drugs 24.07.2020

Amanda describes seeking help for an unhealthy, obsessive routine she created to keep her kids healthy. Note: Melissa (currently not medicated) was jot...

C.R.E.A.M. (Covid Rules Everything Around Me) 17.07.2020

Melissa and Amanda talk about coronavirus, hence the episode title Covid Rules Everything Around Me. Our two stranger-friends can’t wrap their brains around the following: America’s inability to get a handle on this disease, schools reopening or liking Disney World enough to actually go. Ew.
