I Can't Mom Today

As many places cautiously open up, what is everyone enjoying?  We go over the results of our FB Group survey (Vera was the only one who voted 'going to the gym' as one of her favorite things to be doing again for SOME reason...), the Fourth of July holiday and more!  It's great to be back in more ways than one.

We're back after taking some time off so Heather could care for her Dad after his Gioblastoma diagnosis.  She openly discusses her realization that there were some conversations that needed to be had regarding what would happen after he passes.  Not easy stuff, but we felt it was important to share.  We also had surprise cohost Cinnamon the cat drop in to share her opinion.

Stephanie and her husband new early on they wanted to foster kids, but they sure couldn't have predicted adopting 3 at once!  This is  an amazing story of love and strength.  We get the details from Stephanie on how it all came to be.

Different families celebrate different holidays, some families don't celebrate any at all.  How do you talk to your kids about our different traditions?  That and some fun fodder about green beer...

Have you ever heard of Imposter Syndrome?  It seems to be all over the place nowadays.  Heather is definitely afflicted.  Also-Vera got her first Covid shot...and more!

Relationships with others change as we get older and our lives change.  Some relationships were just never great to begin with.  How do you distance yourself from these people?  Poor Baker has another case of Tushy Strep, and we tried to demonstrate a 10 second pause in conversation, but only made it to about 5....

It's our 100th episode!  Heather and Vera discuss the Meghan Markle-Prince Harry interview.  Even a 'Princess' can struggle to ask for help, just like the rest of us Moms!

Vera's Grandma used to leave her butter out on the counter and not refrigerate it and we just discovered Heather does that too!  What?!  Is that gross or perfectly safe?  What other foods have we been obsessively refridgerating that we don't need to?  This, and more shenanigans, of course.

Vera reflects on the people who have helped her and Luke over the years.  Do you believe it takes a village to raise a child?  Where do we find such people?  Does Heather have enough support in her 'Village?'

Heather has been working on decluttering her house...it's actually a little known skill that she has (Heather seriously needs to make a visit to Vera's house).  But how, especially with the Covid rut in play, do we get motivated to do it???  That and the usual silly shiz ensue...

Heather claims she's the favorite in her Dad's eyes...not so sure her sister agrees on that one.  Is it wrong to have a favorite child?  Do you have a favorite?  This and insundry discussion on working out and a Covid scare at Vera's house...

It sure seems like it.  Its already been a rough year with some health issues in Vera's household abound...we ask the age-old question.  DO men have a lower tolerance for pain than women????  Beware-there are a several *bleep* words abound in this episode.

Heather and Vera talk with special guest Dr. Tamika Auguste, OBGYN with the ACOG (The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology), which just released a new book "Your Pregnancy and Childbirth".  Decisions to make if you're having a child during the pandemic...as well as some questions you may have always wanted to, but were afraid to ask (Heather asked them for you).

Heather's 3 year old Baker is chewing and licking EVERYTHING!  Is this normal?  WTH?!

What does your family absolutely have to include in your holiday?  Heather and Vera talk holiday traditions in their households and of those in the I Can't Mom Today community.  This year is going to be a little different, because of...well, you know.

How's your elf been doing so far this year?  Vera and Heather talk elf, and the funny excuses people come up with when their elf doesn't do what he/she is supposed to.  Heather has not been roped into getting one for Baker YET.

We talk Turkey!  Heather traveled for the holiday, Vera did not.  How did it go?  How did Baker handle the flight?  Also-some quick shopping talk.  Let's hope we don't leave it all to the last minute (like every year)...

Heather and Vera get to talk with Wild + Free founder Ainsley Arment.  A different approach to homeschooling and some ideas for those who have been thrust into the homeschooling world since the pandemic.  Incidentally, Baker happened to be home this week because they had a Covid case at his school.  Hang in there Heather!

We talk with Dr. Rashmi Jain from Babiesmd.com.  How things have changed since the pandemic regarding getting care for our children.  Telemedicine has come a long way!  Now we can have access to a pedriatician 7 days a week.   Some  options and advice on how to proceed in the world we are living in now.  

Vera schools Heather on some games she's been playing and we talk about how everyone is celebrating Halloween amidst the pandemic.  Not like 2020 hasn't been spooky enough!
