Send us Fan Mail Closing out the Tommy Jarvis trilogy of Friday the 13th films with the one that leaves no doubt that the man behind the mask is back – it’s “Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives”.           “What’s the name you’ve been given?” I think the thing on the other side of the wall asks.  Look at  us on Instagram Follow us on Twitter  (or don't we're not really there  - and you...

Send us Fan Mail Continuing on with the Tommy Jarvis trilogy, this time it’s TJarvs vs… Jason? Is it “trite trope” walking, or will the new beginning be a breath of fresh air? Find out, ‘cause we’re talking Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning           Many nights I have lain on this cold floor, responding to a possible question. Look at  us on Instagram Follow us on Twitter  (or don't we...

Send us Fan Mail It’s the start of the Tommy Jarvis Trilogy within the Friday the 13th series. We’re starting with the horribly misnamed part 4, “Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter”. Here in all its resplendent Cripsin dancing glory.            I think that I’ve developed a new language, built mostly around scratches, taps, and the occasional squeak. Look at  us on Instagram Follow us on Twitter  ...

Send us Fan Mail Is it the plant that dropped the seed of the modern zombie film? Does this have a meteor shower better than Laser Floyd? Is this a movie about walking carnivorous plants? These and other questions we will likely not answer as we discuss “Day of the Triffids”. Another listener recommendation!           It’s almost like the scratching from the outside is the sounds of something tryi...

Send us Fan Mail The American Dream becomes a nightmare. Cliché? Maybe, but when Tobe Hooper and Steven Spielberg get together to scare ya, who cares? Another great listener recommendation with “Poltergeist”.         And I think I hear things crawling around. On the roof, just outside the walls. Send us Fan Mail Listener recommendation collides beautifully with our last look at anthology films. This time we get to see what an EC comic looks like through the eyes of George Romero and Stephen King. What does it look like through the eyes of Billy and Nikki? Find out as it… comes through our mouths… This one got away from me. The boys checked out “Creepshow”.     It gets cold out here at nig...

Send us Fan Mail What does England have for us in the anthology film category? Just the first film adaptations of EC comic stories and Peter Cushing! “Tales From the Crypt” bringing 5 maddeningly macabre tales for us boys and ghouls!  I mean, I should have known something was fishy when the help wanted ad said, “light clerical work, nacho making, must like bondage and Eagles (the band, not the ani...

Send us Fan Mail Mario Bava gets to try his hand at an early giallo, Boris Karloff gets to talk right into a camera, and the boys get to spend way too much time figuring out what a wurdalak is. It’s an Italian anthology film (and the namesake of yet another band), “Black Sabbath”     I feel like I was sort of tricked into this situation. My mom did always say that I would spend my life literally t...

Send us Fan Mail It’s the BASE biking of anthology films, the Ghost Pepper shooter of shorts, the chainsaw hurricane of loosely linked stories. We checked out “Three… Extremes”, three different directors from three different Asian countries doing their best to shock, disturb, and horrify.   I’m not asking for help or anything, just wanted to let you know that I spend way too much time in the pod s...

Send us Fan Mail Is it a feminist tale of revenge on the patriarchy? Is it a modern ghost tale told through the lens of a guilt-ridden man? Not sure we got to the answer, but we can say that it’s a film that is not to be taken lightly. Nick is introduced to Takashi Miike, and to the film “Audition”. Hey, is anyone still reading past those words? Hey, I’m Jerry. Look at  us on Instagram Follow us o...
