Hopeful Hearts Ministry

Just a few verses before our text, Peter says something about Jesus that changes everything. He calls Jesus the living Stone, rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him. Think about that. The people looked at Jesus and said, No thanks. Not what we're looking for. But God looked at the very same Jesus and said, Chosen. Precious. The crowd's verdict and God's verdict could not have bee...

Today, our message is called Lift Your Eyes to Heaven, based on Psalm 121:1–2: What a powerful reminder for us today. There are moments when we can become so focused on our problems that we forget where our help comes from. We look at the difficulties in front of us and wonder how we are going to get through them. But the Psalmist reminds us to lift our eyes. Not because our problems aren't real,...

Today, our message is called God’s Unfailing Love, based on Psalm 136:1. What a beautiful truth to begin our day with. God's love is not like the love we sometimes experience in this world. People can change. Circumstances can change. Our feelings can change. But God's love remains. It is faithful. It is constant. It is unfailing. So today, let's take a few moments to remember the love of God and...

Today, our message is called Hope in God’s Presence, based on Psalm 16:11. What a beautiful reminder that true hope is not found in having a perfect life or knowing exactly what tomorrow will bring. Our hope is found in knowing that God is with us. His presence gives us direction when we don't know which way to go. His presence gives us peace when life feels uncertain. And His presence gives us jo...

Today, our message is called The Lord Is My Shepherd, based on the beautiful words of Psalm 23:1 This is one of the most familiar verses in the Bible, but its message is just as powerful today as it has always been. When David called the Lord his shepherd, he was describing a God who cares for him, guides him, protects him, and provides for him. And the wonderful truth is that this same God cares...

Today, our message is called “Walking by Faith,” based on 2 Corinthians 5:7 There are times in life when we wish God would simply show us what is going to happen next. We want to know how everything will work out, where the road will lead, and when the answers to our prayers will come. But faith doesn't always work that way. Sometimes God asks us to take the next step without seeing the whole jour...

Prayer is also an act of worship. Our devotional is titled Worship Through Prayer. Our Scripture today comes from Philippians 4:6–7 These words remind us that when we pray, we are not simply bringing God a list of things we need. We are turning our hearts toward Him. We are trusting Him. And that is worship.

There's a strange little scene tucked into the book of Numbers that most of us have never really slowed down to notice. A frightened king named Balak hires a prophet named Balaam to curse the people of Israel. He's paying good money for it. But every single time Balaam opens his mouth to speak a curse, a blessing comes out instead. He tries it from one mountain, blessing. He moves to another mount...

Today’s devotional is titled The Joy of the Lord. Our Scripture comes from Nehemiah 8:10. There are days when we feel strong, and there are days when we feel tired. There are days when everything seems to go according to plan, and there are days when life feels overwhelming. But God's Word reminds us that our strength doesn't have to come from our circumstances. Our strength can come from the joy...

Today’s devotional is titled “Praise in Every Season.” Our Scripture comes from Hebrews 13:15. There is something powerful about those words: continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise. It is easy to praise God when everything is going well. But what about when life is difficult? What about when we are waiting for an answer to prayer? What about when the future feels uncertain? Today, let's re...
