112 Life is Living with Meaning | Pastor Josh Westmoreland 25.05.2025 55:39
Crisis... This is where many meet God for the first time, and even subsequently thereafter. The writer of the Scripture passages we are reading today found himself in this state after pursuing what seems like every possible venture, and yet still experiencing desperation, hopelessness, and a loss for life's meaning. These feelings are not limited to unbelievers. When not focused on Christ, the...
111 The Importance of the Teachings of Jesus | Pastor Ethan Riddle 18.05.2025 28:59
Our relationship with Jesus should be a priority in the life of a follower of Jesus. We should prioritize his teachings and make ourselves available to him so that we can live and look like Jesus. We can become just as distracted by well-intentioned overactivity as we can by cares, riches, and pleasures of this life. Our relationship with Jesus is the necessary thing in this life. To be a disciple...
110 Life is Serving | Pastor Josh Westmoreland 12.05.2025 47:44
A mother's love is a distinct, sacrificial love noted specifically in the Greek language of the New Testament as "philoteknos." This word translated as "love" implies caring, nurturing, meeting needs, embracing, and befriending. A mother's love is always changing and morphing as children grow, yet Scripture informs us there is always a crucial role for a Godly mother from the stages of "bringing u...
109 The Journey: What is Baptism? | Pastor Josh Westmoreland 28.04.2025 33:02
The Lord's Supper and Baptism - the two biblical ordinances that Jesus left us. Today, we are partaking in both here at Hope Church Mill Creek. Let us take some time to observe what Jesus instructed to us before he left this earth. We will partake in Communion with our brothers and sisters in Christ both in this place and all around the world, while we also observe & rejoice with others ta...

We are so glad you are here with us today on Easter and we hope and pray that Jesus speaks to you through the kindness and generosity of our people. Thank you so much for being here. Followers of Jesus all over the globe celebrate the holiday of Easter because of the life, death, and resurrection of a man named Jesus. It is for us truly a holy day. The questions we'd like to answer today are,...
107 The Journey: Who is Barabbas? | Pastor Josh Westmoreland 13.04.2025 58:34
Happy Palm Sunday to you! Even though we dealt with this part of Jesus' story during last Sunday's sermon, we still encourage you to say "Hosanna!" or "O save!" to Jesus whether you never have or you need His grace again for the 100th or 1,000th time. Remember, God resists the proud but He gives grace to the humble. Today, we go back to that final week where everything begins to physically fall ap...
106 The Journey: Jesus Enters, Cleanses, and Judges | Pastor Josh Westmoreland 06.04.2025 57:51
Today we begin talking about the last week of Jesus' earthly life in our Easter series we've called, "The Journey." From the manger to the cross, the entire life and ministry of our Lord was full of risk, danger, excitement, joy, sadness, love, and sacrifice. During this week, however, the Christ allowed all eyes to be fixated on Him. Know this would ultimately lead to his death,...

104 Jesus and Prayer | Pastor Josh Westmoreland 23.03.2025 46:54
Today, we finish our "Jesus and _____" series with one of the most basic but necessary disciplines in the life of a follower of Christ, that is prayer. The act of prayer, or talking to The Lord has been central to lovers of God for thousands of years. We are wired for and need communication with Him. The question though for many of us is, how? Good news, the disciples had the same query! Let us le...
103 Jesus and the Mission | Pastor Josh Westmoreland 16.03.2025 47:49
What are we here for? What are we doing? What is our purpose in life? What are my next steps? These are questions we all wrestle with. One thing many of us know is that to be lost, wandering, and without purpose is no fun at all. Part of THE Good News though, is that HE has the plan! It is comforting to know that all of the pressure regarding our decisions doesn't actually fall on us, but Him!...
102 Jesus and Discouragement | Pastor Josh Westmoreland 09.03.2025 47:07
Discouragement, insecurity, sadness, apathy, fear - all people wrestle with negative emotions from time to time, and some more than others. It seems it is simply part of being human. Because of this, we all need a little encouragement sometimes. In this week's text, we will look at an unlikely biblical character who needed some much positive attention and encouragement, and how Jesus himself p...
101 Jesus and Our Flesh | Pastor Josh Westmoreland 02.03.2025 53:19
Who is Jesus? We've read about Him, studied His sayings, and talked about His life. But who is He... to you? Does the Person of Jesus have any real effect in your life, mentality, or behavior? For the next few weeks until the Easter season begins, we will simply talk about Jesus - comparing and contrasting his thoughts, parables, philosophies, and actions with ours. The hope is that we come to kno...
100 Communion | Pastor Josh Westmoreland 23.02.2025 31:49
This last week of the month at Hope Church means we slow down and place our focus on the Last Supper, the Lord's Supper that we call Communion. Jesus, in preparation for his imminent death in sacrifice for all humanity, took one more opportunity to be with disciples and share bread and wine with them to signify his upcoming sacrifice for us all.
99 You Shall Love | Pastor Josh Westmoreland 16.02.2025 49:12
This time of year, love is talked about quite a bit. With the commercial marketing of pinks, reds, hearts, roses, and stuffed animals, we can see that the focus on this holiday is obviously romantic love. We as Americans love love. We talk about it, sing about it, imagine it, and long for it. There's something in our soul that seems to need it. While Scripture acknowledges and celebrates this...
98 Recovery Alive | Andrew & Charlene Marshall 09.02.2025 1:31:47

97 What is Worship: Sacrificing our Service | Pastor Josh Westmoreland 02.02.2025 53:27
Sacrifice is hard. Taking something of value in the here-and-now, and making an educated trade for something else potentially more valuable in the future is very much a risk. In Scripture, however, we come to understand that our lives are not our own, so then, giving what we "own" becomes much easier. For we realize that everything we have, all the way down to each cell in our body, belo...
96 What is Worship: Sacrificing our Money | Pastor Josh Westmoreland 26.01.2025 56:47
Recently in Scripture, we have uncovered what "worship" is for us - a right response toward God in spirit and action. When a soul encounters the one, true, and holy God through the Person of Jesus, a proper response would be surrender and submission to Him. Interestingly, this doesn't seem to come to us (and through us) naturally in our flesh. Over the next few weeks at Hope Church in Roxboro, we...
95 What is Worship: Sacrificing our Communication | Pastor Josh Westmoreland 19.01.2025 53:04
People are wired for worship. We worship God through the Person of Jesus, or we worship persons, things, or ideas that are lesser than God. We prove the object of our worship and our level of devotion by what we are willing to sacrifice. Proper Christian worship involves sacrifice as well, but with a twist - that is, Jesus is our ultimate sacrifice; therefore, our felt sacrifices for Him are not o...
94 What is Worship: We Sacrifice Because He Sacrificed | Pastor Josh Westmoreland 05.01.2025 55:11
A happy and holy New Year to you Hope Church. In some ways, 2024 was a great year for our assembly, while in other ways it was an extremely difficult one. Let us take a few weeks at the very beginning of 2025 to focus on an absolute essential of Christian living. That is the worship of our Lord, our King, and our God. We will talk about what worship is, what it's for, and how we go about it in our...
93 Biblical Elders | Pastor Josh Westmoreland 29.12.2024 25:21
It is now the week between Christmas and the new year. Excitement has worn off and things are now a bit quiet, as they should be. Here at Hope Church Mill Creek, today we quietly and prayerfully consider our church and its future as we officially vote on our elder nominees. Today's sermon will be about church elders and be a directive to ours.
92 Glimpses of God: The Gift of God | Pastor Josh Westmoreland 22.12.2024 36:38
It's Christmas! We thank you so much for choosing to listen here today. Of all the church gatherings in this community, you chose to listen to this service with us. We hope and pray you hear from the Word of The Lord as we all celebrate the one, true King Jesus today. Born a sinless baby, lived a perfect life, died a terrible death, and miraculously resurrected again - all for you and me. Holy, ho...
91 Glimpses of God: The Humility of God | Pastor Josh Westmoreland 15.12.2024 52:21
Most of us would really like to get ahead in life. Whether that be financial position, social standing, or power level, we like it when people look up to us. It would seem that is the natural order of life then. Except, that is not what our model, the man Jesus did. Jesus seemingly went backwards and down - leaving the throne of heaven, becoming mortal man, and suffering with us and for us. This i...
90 Glimpses of God: The Love of God | Pastor Josh Westmoreland, Jody Allen, & Frankie Gentry 08.12.2024 1:02:10
This season of Advent, may we consider where we were, where we are, and where we would be were it not for the Christ child. If God had not sent His beloved Son to His created earth in vulnerability as a baby, where would that leave us? Why would anyone give up their own child for the salvation of someone else? This level of sacrifice is simply too great to comprehend. Or is it love?
89 Glimpses of God: The Trustworthiness of God | Pastor Josh Westmoreland 01.12.2024 41:36
Since the fall of man in the days following his creation, man has struggled to see, hear, and know God. Scripture tells us that men prefer darkness over light. Even those who know Jesus sometimes struggle. So, in this present darkness, how do we know God? We see glimpses of Him here, there, and in Scripture. The Advent season reveals a glimpse of God like no other, the incarnation of the Christ ch...
