Homily Rewind from St. Margaret Mary Church

Jesus is indeed the "living water." Fr. Walsh tells in order to know the Lord this Lent, we need to realize that the Lord is the "living water," and is truly present to us in the Eucharist.

Fr. Joshy encourages us all to grow in holiness this Lent. This weekend is Safe Haven Sunday, which focuses on keeping our homes safe from the dangers of pornography. We are all encouraged to be aware of the dangers of this world and embrace the holiness of God.

When Jesus is led into the desert, Satan attacks His very identity spoken to Him by the Father. Satan whispers those same lies to us, making us question our own God given identity. Fr. Adam leads us through a litany to renounce the lies and receive the truth of who we are.

Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. Fr. Joshy tells us, in order to do this, we need to pursue holiness by receiving Jesus in the Eucharist with devotion and love.

Fr. Walsh tells us Jesus wants us to focus on what is in our heart. We are not just responsible for our actions but we need to make sure our thoughts and intentions are focused on Jesus. He then introduces Our Catholic Appeal.

Deacon Tommy tells us we are all called to be a light to the world. He asks us, what are we being called to do to help those who need it?

Jesus calls us all to be salt and light. Deacon Dave tells us by living as disciples following the beatitudes we need to be salt and light to those around us.

Deacon Walt tells us we need to be salt and light to others, we need to be the Eucharist to all those we meet.

Deacon Bill tells us we need to be both salt and light. As salt we enhance the lives to those around us, and as light we are a guiding way for others.

The Canon of Saints provides us with numerous heroic witnesses. Fr Adam picks a few who exemplify the beatitudes and encourage us to live out our own faith heroically.

Deacon Bill tells us three things: 1) Appreciate what God give us each day. 2) Life is fast! 3) Why are we here? He then tells us the importance of answering God's call in our lives.

Deacon Tommy tells us of his entrance into St. Margaret Mary and how it is so important to become involved in ministry to feel part of this community.

Jesus is calling us all! Deacon Walt invites us to hear Jesus' call to us, wherever we are at in our lives.

Just as He called His early disciples, Jesus calls each of us to be fishers of people.

Fr. Joshy tells us when we participate in Communion, it is us being offered Jesus not us taking it. In receiving both the Body and Blood of Christ, we are participating in a banquet, similar to the banquet we will celebrate with Christ at the end of times.

On this Epiphany, Fr. Walsh tells us that the Lord is calling us to give of ourselves. We need to ask, “Lord, what can I offer you this coming year?”

Fr. Joshy challenges us to join Mary in being the Mother of God. To do this we need to invite Jesus into our hearts and perform good works in His name.

Fr. Adam gives his homily this Christmas, he tells us that our journey starts at Christmas, it is not the destination. We are sent to go out and cast the light of Jesus into the world.

Fr. Henry gives his homily this Christmas, he tells us that Christmas is Jesus coming into this world and that we need to be ready to receive Him.

Fr. Walsh gives his homily this Christmas, he tells us that Jesus is the savior of the world and we need to be saviors to those around us.

Fr. Joshy gives his homily this Christmas, he reminds us that the Christmas message is one of love, joy and hope.

On this last week of Advent, Deacon Bill challenges us to take some time to sit in front of the Nativity. He asks us to reflect and to put ourselves into the scene with Jesus at His birth.

We all need a little more peace. Deacon Tommy reminds us to be aware of God presence in our lives. He is always with us and that His true peace leads us to His gift of grace.

Rejoice! Fr. Walsh tells us on "Gaudete Sunday" we need to prepare for the Lord at Christmas by rejoicing in Him. He reminds us the best way to do this is participating in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Change is part of Advent. Fr. Joshy challenges us to be inconvenienced by the demands of the Gospel, and to be open to change our lives in order to prepare for the coming of our Lord at Christmas.
